PG Head Unit

Post by martinkruit »

I saw on this forum somebody with a PG HU.

What is quality off this HU and does anybody know if they are still available?
If not is there a possibility to buy it used?

They only made 1000 Z1's and they show up they usually go for big bucks.

I got a bunch of RFX-8250's they arent in the same league as the Z1's but they are made by denon and they do sound nice also. So if you wanted a cheaper alternative then get the 8250, the balanced is different though. It more of the zapco type of balanced (round), than the PG RJ45 balanced which the Z1 has

I did have a old Denon headunit. I thought it was da shiznit. DCT970 I think. It was years ago. But it was really nice. Plain but sounded accurate. Thing I dont like about the balanced outs is that you cant use them with just anything. You have maybe 2 options. Denon amps or PG EQ's....

iirc, it had numeous outputs for a complete balanced output, it had so many different jacks on the back of it that it would be a installers night mare to install in a tight location, looked to be usb type plugs with
other things. there were different processors in that lineup but
i was distracted by some guy when i was looking at it and never got to
investigate.

the one i have is no differant what so ever to a Z1 connection wise, don't know if they tweeked it internally or not but apart from the Ti cosmetics it's just a Z1....

specs wise, the Z1 seems to be much higher end compared to the nak cd700. I've got the nak cd400 which sound so good , cant imagine these babies.....

Also will cost you around $8k. Werewolf has said before this at any level in car audio, pro-audio, home-audio anything is the best head unit/proc. combo ever made. Better then the DEXQ.
