Phoenix Gold zx600.2ti problem
Phoenix Gold zx600.2ti problem
I recently hooked my Phoenix Gold 600.2ti back up in my car . The problem is the sound coming out is extremely low almost distorted coming from the subs like its on Mute the subs sounded fine when I removed them a year ago so I doubt its that but dont know how to fully rule it out . My Head Unit is a AVIC-N3 aswell
I probably explained this problem bad but What are some good diagnosing steps to find what the problem is if its Head Unit,Rca outputs,Amp,subs etc . Thank you in advance

Try a single sub (or a tester speaker..anything you have lying around etc)on just one of the channels...see if you get a clear signal. You can obviously try the other channel as well...I am no guru, but at least see if you can troubleshoot what you can. It is possible that their could be other things going on inside...IE: capacitors that go bad, leak, etc. Which could cause issues. Double check your wiring....etc...
Can you explain how your subs are connected? Parallel? series? bridged? etc...

Wakeup is correct try another speaker if the problem is still there then try to get the amp benched at a shop for a simple power test. I used to do this all the time for people, especially if I just repaired the amp for them.
Also look for 4 LEDs inside the amp located under the crossover board try looking in the left window while the amp is on. You need to see all 4 red leds lite up.
Other than that you need either other speakers of a bench test for the amp...best of luck...

4 Red Leds so on a 4 channel they have 8 I take it ? I believe I saw 2 on today on left side of amp so if 2 of them are out where would I go from there ? Would cause distorted sound/extremely low sound ? Do places still repair these things ? Thanks for reply1moreamp wrote:Wakeup is correct try another speaker if the problem is still there then try to get the amp benched at a shop for a simple power test. The amp is a 600.2ti Zero Point model
A ZX 600 Ti is a 2 channel amp and each channel has two leds in each drive section prior to the output triple Darlington stage.
I have on several occasions seen these leds blow out while running very low loads. They can be bought from PG at a cost of $3.00 each + shipping for exact replacements.
They have a polarity so you must pay attention to correctly install them + & - wise.
This may be all that is wrong but only a bench test can prove that info. If your not good at this sort of thing please get a real techy type to do the work, as the soldering skills required should be good cause to seek professional help with your issues.
The amp will have to come completely apart to fix this issue, and there may be other issues and this may be just a symptom of the failure mode of the amp. I.E. you may have a blown channel or worse.
Hope this helps , I been here and done this a few times, so my info should be accurate. PG has flat rates to fix this around $125.00 I think is the price+ shipping to them and possibly back to you....Good luck...C

I checked it this morning all 4 LEDS are lit up . I have alot of the electrical testers from my grandfather havent used many of them but is there any other tests I could try on the amp to see what part is bad if its even the amp I kinda just want to eliminate it as the problem . Anyway to Test the RCAs on the head unit plug or the Amp ?1moreamp wrote:A ZX 600 Ti is a 2 channel amp and each channel has two leds in each drive section prior to the output triple Darlington stage.

by your description it sounds like you have a blown power supply if all the info you said is correct...C
