Wiring Question
I figured this would be the best place to ask about these amps..
What would be the better overall choice?
The 2 amps are PG Ti400.2 and Ti600.2 along with a JL10W6 (sealed) and Boston Pro60's. Reason for 10 only is for an extended cab truck.
1. Run the Ti600.2 to the Boston's at 225X2 @3ohms stereo with plenty of headroom and run the Ti400.2 with at least 400X1 @ 2ohms bridged on the JL10W6?
2. Run the Ti600.2 on the JL10W6 at 8ohms bridged with 300X1 and the Ti400.2 to the Boston's at 150X2 @ 3ohms stereo?
I know the first choice will make more power overall but will pull a good bit more power from the truck. Thanks for any input.

If you have the electical system to handle the lower loads, then go for it.
Why not run the Ti600.2 at 2 ohms bridged to the sub and the Ti400.2 to the components?
Once again I don't know what kind of electical system you have, so it's hard to make that call.

Hell I'm not good with it either, I just have a good memory and regurgitate things I've read and heard.Wakeup wrote:But I am a dummy when it comes to the numbers and hooking stuff up etc. I can buy crap and play with stuff etc. And love it...but this is not my realm. I can fix computers and talk computers. Just not good with the other crap.

well thats the thing, I would like to keep the stock electrical system in the truck, Maybe...just maybe a Yellow Top down the road.fordtough1 wrote:If you have the electical system to handle the lower loads, then go for it.

I would think the 600.2 on the sub would be alittle much and pull more current than the 400.2
RMS on the W6v2 is 400 watts.

If you keep your gains very modest, you shouldn't have issues running the 400.2 at 2 ohms. Just make sure that both amps have 4 gauge power and ground feeds... so you can run a 2 or 0 gauge into a distribution block, then split it up to 4 for each amp, or you can do two runs of 4... either one works.

As you've already been told, either should be fine as long as your electrical is up to par.
Although it shouldn't be a problem in your case I just want to mention that the Ti600.2 can be vulnerable to thermal issues when run hard into a 2 ohm mono load. It shouldn't be too much of a problem in your case though as it seems that you would have plenty of power for a single 10w6 and shouldn't be pushing the amp to its limits.

I was leaning towards putting the 400.2 on the sub as it would draw less current than the 600.2?dedlyjedly wrote:As you've already been told, either should be fine as long as your electrical is up to par.

^that's a (now) myth from when most interconnects in cars were coaxial cables and acted as giant noise antennas when anywhere near the ground cable. most modern twisted pair interconnects are able to reject that noise so it has become much less of an issue
when you ground your cable to the chassis, it is then using the car's frame as cable to ultimately create a circuit back at the battery (which also has a cable to the frame)
in many cars, using a long cable is a better ground then using the chassis which may or may not have good metal to metal welds.

hey, maybe hook it up both ways and see what sounds the best to to you!!!? Also, if your worried about the amount of current draw and enough tvolts, just pick up a stinger ( small one) and put in your cab; check out my 02 audi a4 and 07 gmc siera work truck, i have one in both and it makes a difference, night and day!!! i would run the 600 to the sub, does your headunit have a sub output rca, or do you have lpl-44? that wayif too much bass u can turn it down, but really, is there ever too much???
Thats what i'm going to do, just try it out. I don't have any room for a battery in the back of my truck, I would replace the stock one. Yes my head unit has a sub control and I have the low pass level knob.thedeal7235 wrote:hey, maybe hook it up both ways and see what sounds the best to to you!!!?
