New sub SQ

Post by chaplin »

I look myself for a sub SQ. At the moment, the amplifier is going to be or an JL Audio 1000/1 or my Helix A2 Competition...

I thought in: 2 JL Audio 12W6, IDQ12 (IDMAX)...

You advise me what?

what kind of music?

i would think a 1000.1 would be way overkill for either of those subs...

what about an rsdc12 :)

I'd advise you do some research on the car it's going into. There is soooooo much that can be done within the vehicles interior before you ever install a single speaker. DYNAMAT EVERYWHERE!!!!! Roof, floor, trunk ect ect. I might even go as far as matting the WHOLE door inside and out. I love the expanding foam in the spray can. You have to be careful with it but it'll get into those places that dynamat can't. SQ comes after the prep work IMO.

I'm sure there will be others that'll agree and have their own advise.

I see that you ask alot of questions....... In this case, trial and error might be yer best bet. Sometimes you come up with things that others didn't know or hadn't tried.

My car: Honda Civic sedan 2005

My car is covered with eDead V1 and eDead V4(by place).

My music: Very varied, rock, alternate, classic (little), instrumental, dance. No hip-hop, rap...

That car is a tin can. So is my civic. You might still think about getting some expanding for those hard to get nooks and crannies. And also filling in any of the rear deck supports you can. I just taped and sprayed alittle at a time until it was full but not over full. The doors are where the help is needed most I have found. I pulled the windows/mechanizm and lined the whole inside as well as the outside metal that's under the panel.

I spent the better part of $400 and countless hours on the deadening of my last ride. [/b]

Thanks Fuzzy...

I have at present Helix A2 Competition, MS250 and I wanted a MS2125 but I have some difficulty finding clean. Thus, I thought of buying to take an Audio JL 1000/1...

Possibility: A2 on my MB Quart Q216 Signature and the JL Audio on the sub. The MS250 on rear fill.

I thought of installing my sub in corners molded in fiber.

You propose me what?

I had to have A4 but there was a problem... Thus, I also look for A4 not too expensively...

Doesnt matter in a car if you know what xover points, slopes, phase, polarity, and eqing to use.

Just find what works best for you in terms of box size, impedance for you amp, and value. After that pick the driver based on size aka surface area, excursion, and efficiency.

Just my opinion, but its always fun to play with them straight out of box.
