Hi everybody,

I sent my M44 to a shop to get the caps replaced. Today I went by to ask when I could get it back...He said that the transistors on all four channels were gone and I need to buy eight new ones...
I listened to the amp play before it was taken out of a car and put in my stash.
Is he right about the transformers or just trying to pick my pockets??

You are getting ripped!

If it worked, then those parts were not missing.

I heard the amp play, not very loud but it played. He didn't say that the parts were missing, just that they need to be replaced.

Anyway...I'm gonna tell him to replace the caps and nothing else.

Yeah I would say your being scratched by a bad service supplier. The only way you would need new outputs is if they were leaky and you had high DC offset issues at the output to the speakers. An even then this is most likely due to the input diff pair or the rails not being matched within tolerance.

Hope this helps, and please be picky about who touches your amps, I would not trust this tech your at right now, as he is not getting what he wants from you...your Money... Be very careful ....C

I'm gonna go down there tomorrow and take the amp back and let someone else fix the caps...

Thanks for all the answers

It could be that he replaced the caps, but made a mistake. then all the transistors were blown away and now he wants you to pay that mistake!!

be carefully
