I was wondering if these will seal to create an air tight enclosure for my doors.

Do they seal up pretty air tight? Nice install on that truck btw.

The only thing I'd be concerned about is the "foam" part.
It says it doesn't sponge up water so that's a start but does it just let air through? Who knows! That's the question though, right?
Edit: I know you asked my install thread about the cups I used. Here's the official information from the packaging:
American International "Dash Solutions"
Bass Boomer SPP 514 DSF
Accommodates drivers up to 6.5"
Where to get them in the states? I have no idea.

I used them years ago, the didn't seem to do anything. I thought they were waste. They may have keep the large amounts water from hitting my door spreaker, but they were always damp inside. I would probably cut a hole in the bottom of them if I used them again.

I've only heard good things about the foam pods. They appear to be of the open celled variety so I'd say it'll probably let a little air and water in, but I'd say they probably seal good enough.

Hmm.. the only thing I would use them for is templates to fiberglass into
Once you hear sealed you will never go back.. right fuzzy?

I was actually looking to seal up the woofer more than protect it. So it doesn't sound like they would help do either.
I posted this in response to dgoodhue's post before the other posts came through.
I am still reading.

Damn straight!
Well, we'll really see when that RSd comp set arrives

That's the real test!
Sealed enclosures at ~5lbs/each (without driver) are sounding pretty damn good to me right now...

I had my ZP's sealed in my S-10, that was better than 10 years ago so I really don't remember how they sounded. I remember they were very clean though.
According to Morgan the Exile Xtec 6.5" I have should sound just as good in a semi-sealed environment. I wanted to seal them up a little more to see if there was a difference.

they are not completely air tight, but they actually do hold moisture out, but they will also hold moisture (humidity) in as well.
they are good for basic installs, if you wanted the best possible sound quality i would build glass pods instead.
if you are not wanting a copletely sealed environment these are great! they do hel midrange and midbass as well
and thank you

they wont seal your speaker at all. plus they are thin squishy foam, so the "enclosure" they made would be worthless because it would flex so much

What if you use them and just give them a couple coats of fiberglass resin on the inside (or outside)? How would that work for a sealed enclosure?

that would probibly work fine then.

Sweet! That will make a huge difference when I get my RSd comps.
It should make them a little more punchy right, just overall less loss?

That's a great idea. I should try that in my truck. Hmmmmm........

I bet it'd make a huge difference, and so easy to do if it works well.

Good idea except the resin will eat the foam upon application...............
For a quick fix, just get a cardboard poster shipping tube, and wax it or spray paint it to seal it.

you wonldnt want to make those into enclosures any how....as the cu space of them is far to small for jusst about everything...
Maybe you could sneak by with 4" and smaller cones

That's my main concern with my enclosures... is that when I get the RSd comps, there won't be enough space in the enclosure itself. Oh well, I'll get to find out within the next few days.

Good point....so you are saying use a combo of the cardboard tube and foam or just the cardboard tube?
