Ahh Butler PPI's My good friend Jon used to work for them. I have had the pleasure of working on a few of these. Very nice sounding amps, but very hot from the tubes of course. You will need flat internal finned heatsinks with a bonnet type cover with vent holes to get these working reliably.

LMK if I can be of informative value to you on these glowing wonders of yesteryear......C :)

Oh how I can tell they are Butler PPI is because PPI used Sanken outputs like the Xenons in these, and Butler used Mosfets that are no longer made. In fact a Xenon sink plate would work nicely if the devices could be made to fit the proper mounting places... :)

Soviets used tubes right up until the curtain fell. Tube fitted hardware will not fail in a nuclear environment. Solid state devices (silicon) becomes inept if radiated. All early MiGs had tube equipment for this very reason, hence their weight and limited performance as compared to an equivalent Western fighter.

Those examples up there are too kewl.
The only stupid question is the one not asked .......

If I owned a failed Butler PPi amp YES I would pay that price to put them in my cases, But without cases, I just don't know, the cost to build them up custom would place them in the range of NIB cost for these older beauties..
