Euro Standards For Wire Gauges

I am doing some work which requires knowledge of wire gauge standards for Europe, basically the metric equivalents of AWG sizes.

The problem I am having is the internet. I can't find two charts which agree what the metric measures should be for 16ga, 14ga, 12ga, 8 ga, 4ga, and 1/0ga.
Lets just say its ga. (not that there's anything wrong with that  )

But anyway:
I am interested in hearing from any of the Euro dudes who hang out here, or anyone really world wide, who use metric standards.

a) what are the mm2 equivalents to the gauge sizes I list above?

b) are the metric sizes used to sell wire, like on the package? Like when someone goes into a store and says "I need a 10mm2 power install kit"?
Or do you just use AWG sizes like "I need a 8ga power install kit".

That's one of the charts I have. THanks

I figured car audio people would just use AWG, no matter where in the world. Like a pint of Guiness is a pint is a pint, no matter how many litres it is.
