Hi, guys.
I have a PG Outlaw purchased from someone on the talkaudio-forum in the UK. It has worked fine until I tried hooking it up yesterday to power my Focal's. Now the problem is that when I turn it on both amps turn on but the "CLIP"-light comes on and the amp won't do much.
I have removed all wires, excluding power and it still won't turn on properly. What is the reason for this "CLIP"-warning?
Thanks
Phoenix Gold Outlaw Clipping
Are you working on this in a car, or do you have a power supply to test this amp with in your home?
Do you know if the amp is drawing a lot of current? Like is it blowing fuses in your electrical system, or anything like that?
As a simple first check I would connect the leads of the DMM to the speaker wire outputs and see if you are getting any DC voltage. Hook everything up and then turn the remote wire on for just enough time to get a reading on the DMM. You don’t want to leave the amp on for long or you may damage something else, depending on what might be wrong.
Do this test with no RCA signals connected to the amp at all. Just power and the DMM, and a remote wire.
If you see 20V or something high like that, you likely have something shorted.
