I picked up a XS2500 this morning for $10 but it needs work. So I pops it open and find the C8,C9,C10 and C11 are shot. Thats the only major thing I can seem to find. Where can I get these caps? "KME 16V 1000uf" is whats writen on the cap.

cecil's your best bet, he has repaired 2 of my 2500's so i know he has parts around.

i think that as long as the caps are 16 volts and fit, you can go with a higher capacitance

did you check the output fets also? every xs that has gone tits up on me has lost a couple of them too

How do I check those? To be honest, this is the first amp I've ever really tried to fix myself other than a blown internal fuse or bad RCA.

usually the FETS (under the steel plates that are bolted down) are visually damaged or warped.

i have even seen them get so hot the melted the steel plates into weird shapes

Ya seen the weird melted shapes one on my Blown T1200.1.

Hopefully things haven't gotten out of hand and this is the only trouble spot. LOTZ TO TEST!!!!!
