Very new to the car audio world. My components are bumping around on a big ol' truck right about now on their way to my house. I need to figure out my amp situation. I have a rockford fosgate power t4004. My original plan was to put all 4 channels on to the front components. I'm not sure how it would be hooked up. Or if that would be to much power. Is this a wise or non wise decision to make.

Average actual power per channel @ 1 ohm 151 watts

Average actual power bridged @ 2 ohm 302 watts

Average actual power per channel @ 4 ohms 90 watts

rsd comps love power, bridge that amp to them.


Bridging is quite simple, it should be labeled on the amp

The RSd CS 6.5 will present a ~4ohm load to the amp.

If you bridge it (two amp channels per set of mid & tweeter), the amp will still be presented with a 4 ohm load so look for 4 ohm bridge power ratings.

The RSd CS 6.5 set can probably handle upwards of 300W per side so don't worry about over powering them, just don't clip the amp!

Bridge that sucker to the comps man, but like fuzzy said just don't clip the amp. Make sure to set your gains correctly and you should be golden.

Would an amp bridged @ 2 ohms have less or more watts the bridged @ 4 ohms. I'm having a hell of a time finding how many watts it puts out bridged at 4 ohms.

All I can find is this...

2 x 100W @ 4 ohms bridged but I know Rockfored underrated this amp. So I don't know the actual power.

an amp bridged at 2ohms will put out more power then at 4ohms (unless it dies, but it sounds like your amp is capable of running at 2ohms bridged)

since those are 4ohm speakers however, you will be running at 4ohms bridged.

typically an amp will put out almost 2x the power when you half the ohm load. so since you gave an above rating of 302 at 2ohms bridged, i would guess almost 150 at 4ohms bridged.

yes the rsd comps LoooOOOOoooove lots of power. i have my RSD65CS's run active, powered by a DD S4. so thats 200 per mid, and 100 per tweet. they take it fine and sound amazing doing it. so don't be afraid to give them a bunch of power.

I attempted to read about about running active. Would it be worth a shot to tell the installers to make them run active, or is it something I should do myself so I can fine tune it to my liking? How do you go about making them run active? Don't you just use the amp as the crossovers, do the crossovers front he components just not get installed? Can I run active with the channels being bridged to give it power or does the tweeter have to get a channel and then the mids have to have a channel?

going active can be quite a task to those who don't know what it's all about. i wouldn't say don't do it, but definitely read up A LOT about it before jumping into it.

it also involves some equipment you might not have. usually you don't just end up with the right equipment to do it. usually you buy your equipment for that reason.

I'll be running an active RSd 6.5 CS in a few weeks when the summer rides come out of hibernation. I'm building a system for a Red '90 SC, much like the one on my sigpic. Alpine 9855 with Sirius module already installed.

I'm going to add a pair of RSd 3" co-ax to the front stage 6.5 Rsd CS and fill the rear with another complete 6.5 RSd CS. I figure the 3" additon will cover that 2.5-4Khz concern. A PG AX406 will provide adjustment. A pair of sealed RSd10 Comp subs. Horse power will be a Ti 500.4 for the corners and a bridged Ti 600.2 for the box. Either an LPL or an AC Epicenter with it all managed managed through an AC Four1.i.

why use a 3" coaxial speaker? why not just get a true 3" mid-range driver?
how are you going to power and process a 3 way active setup + rear fill? and why use rear fill in the first place?

the rsd 3 is a mid range driver.

its the bastard step-child of the rsd series, with less then 3db rise/drop in response from about 160-17k

I'm not sure how bruce is going to run power for that either.

6.5 off the front of the 500.4 then use a passive for the 3" & 1"?
