RMD Mounting Location

Hi, I have an RMD (remote monitor display). When I ordered it I thought it would be really slim, and you can mount it on a surface (like for say a sub box). When I got it, it seems like its really thick and the electronics are not sealed in.
I don't want to mount it up in front I want to mount it in the back with the rest of the system. What can I do? Should I make a hole into the box and mount it flush? Please advise!

i wouldnt do that! maybe cut an area of carpet in your trunk to hold it? trunk lid?
it really depends on the car/instal and other factors.
pictures of the trunk?

well if there are any area's of carpet that have enough clearance hehind them...i would mount it there.
cut an X in the carpet (with 4 pin holes around it for thescrew holes, use small bolts with washers behind them to secure it in.

Are you telling him not to install it in the sub box? Is that a problem with these or is it the box's that's the problem?

I would be concerned mounting it in a sub box for two reasons:
1 - Vibration. These are relatively delicate instruments. Same as mounting an amp to a sub box. Doesn't make sense to me. Constant vibration.
2 - Compromising the air seal integrity of the box, especially if it's sealed.
Comments?

Got it figured with the constant bump that it might not be best to mount them there. Just wanted more info, hopefully I didn't highjack thread.

it sounded like he was talking about cutting a hole in the box to flush mount the rmd into...and if thats the case....no bueno.
if you just want to bolt it to the box, it would probably be fine

I'm thinking mount it to an amp rack if he has an amp. It'll look nice plus he can make it flush.

ahhhh -- see I thought it would look really cool mounted flush on a box -- (ie cut a hole in the box and push it in) ... But not i'm not so sure -- So anyways are you saying the carpet alone is enough to hold it in place?
The way this thing is built .. it doesn't look like it can be installed ANYWHERE ---without considerable modification done to the car (if its up front). Mounting to the box itself without cutting a hole would just look ugly, as the electronics is not sealed in, its just a circuit board screwed onto a black plate with a window in the middle. This thing is pissing me offff. If I designed it, I would make it really really thin and sealed so you can mount it anywhere.

If it was designed it really thin to fit anywhere it would likely cost $200 instead of $20 why don't you want it up front?

It's really not that difficult to install, but it's definitely easier to include it in the initial system design than to try to add it to a box or amp rack after the fact. Just be glad you're not trying to add an SDT display! That things like three and a half inches deep not including the mounting bracket!
