please help me out here:
I remember that you, Stipud, once told me/us what amps that was rare in the TI-series...
I must admit that I do not remember what TIs that are rare, and "why" they are rare...
Was it with Alu-chassis maybe? Do they have their own description?
Thanks...

the aluminum chasses IS rare (although you could be refering to other rarites within the line)
the aluminum cased amps were the same as the steel cases as far as power and feature specs go

Yeah, I personally only buy Ti AL amplifiers. I believe these were initially made for Japan or something, but they ended up getting liquidated here as well. They are nice because they don't rust at all, and the heaviest amps only weigh 5 kg or so. However, they have a slight problem with rattle, which can be solved by installing dynamat under the cover, which I have done to all of them.
The Ti900.7AL was the first amp I got, on sale at Sounddomain when they were closing out the Ti gear. Then Jed got me a TiAL cover for my Elite XO, so I had a matching setup. At that time I also had a Ti1200.1 in steel finish. It was rusty and beaten to hell and back. Didn't look great next to the 900.7, and it drew too much current for my car at the time, so I sold it.
Later I got Me-262's (and Audiophiliac's former) Ti500AL by sending him Mastiff's Ti500.4, which matched his other Steel amps. This is the one installed in my car right now. Bdubs got me a Ti10DDAL, which I am currently lending to Fuzzysnuggleduck. And finally Wakeup found me a Ti1200.1AL on Craigslist for $300! It's in damn near mint shape, so it's sitting as a collectible along with my nearly-NIB Ti900.7 under my bed. One day I may get a car to put them in
So quite a bit of forum history in my amplifiers. This is why I am not going to sell any single one of them. Ever.

Does it say AL on the chassis? Unless so, I figure that it might be hard to see the difference just from pics...
Thanks for info, anyway...

its hard if its the only amp in the picture sometimes becasue different flash and lighting can play tricks with the camera.
but if they are side by side....very easy to tell which is wich.
also, if the serial number is still on it, it should have an "AL" on the end (my tidd10AL did at least)

The box will say AL on it as well. It is obvious in person as they are much lighter color, the surface is rough, as well as the weight difference (my 500.4Al is 7 lbs the steel version is 12).
Most of the ebay examples I have seen, the sellers don't know what they have. When I was looking for mine, I would just ask the seller if it had the aluminum finish. It does suck about the steel TI versions, mine had some surface rust in one area, despite no imperfection in the coating. I would probably never buy another TI ZXti amp unless it was aluminum because of this.

I've never seen them personally, but I'd say that the offroads are not of the aluminum variety. They matched the x-station in mcfrosty's pictures.
