RSD/RSDc enclosure question

Post by fordtough1 »

I am in process of building an enclosure for two 12" RSD subs. I am building it sealed at 1.8 cubes per side for a final size of 1.6 after woofer displacement.

My question is this. In the future, possibly near future, I am thinking about buying two RSDc 12's. Is this enclosure going to be too big for those subs? I know the manual says 1.17 cu ft sealed for SQ, but the manuals on the regular RSD subs say 1.2 sealed for SQ. However from my reading on here I guess that 1.6 is the magic box for SQ on a regular RSD.

So will this be too big for an RSDc, or will it be ok? Or should I jsut build the box smaller now.

I guess what I'm asking is, what is the optimal size for a sealed SQ box for the RSDc 12's? Is it the size it says in the manual, or is it some magic size that only really special people know about, and if so can I be one of those special people?

Sorry for the rambling.....

the rsd12 displaces .2 cubic feet? that can't be right.

yeah dude...the displacement is .09405, so if you build to 1.8, you'll end up with 1.705. That's still a good place to be, though. I wouldnt go changingthe box design over it. If the punch is a lil thin when you hook it up, just screw a 2x4 to the inside to eat up some of the space. btw...look in the reviews section of the phorum and i think you'll find some info about the rsdc and good box dimensions....good luck ;)
what if the hokey pokey really is what it's all about?
