It's 7 years old and I haven't used it for about the last 5 years. I know they aren't that expensive but why buy one if this you is still good.

If its bad it will get very hot, and there is a little plastic dimple on the top.
Hot and real stinky smoke will pour out that vent if its failed on you. And your car will stink forever lol lol lol
That vent keeps the cap from exploding...Yes they could Explode... Mine is who knows how old now, but it only keeps my headlamps from dimming to the music.
Your supposed to fuse these things so they blow the fuse when they fail and thats your heads up its bad. I think its a 7 or 10 amp fuse to protect yourself from the possibilities
A local seller out here has new farad caps for like $29.00 each. Which is a reasonable price for these things as they pretty much don't do anything but band-aid a weak electrical system.
For what it costs for a real cap or a bat-stat Cap I would check out new stuff. Nothing lasts forever

You have to charge them up and let then stand a while to see what shape they are in.
I suggest you use the charging light thingy and use a 7 to 10 amp fuse if you leave them on a charger for time soak testing.
If the get Hot I would say they are bad. If not heck use them, but use them with safety fuses so if they do go shorted on you they just blow a fuse, and stop the meltdown they go thru.....C
