yeah stipud, I have a 2001 pontiac sunfire 4dr. I like to keep the plastic panel on the front of the speaker incase I sell the car. I could possibly make adaptors.

I have definitely made 5.25" adapters for that car before, and bigger is probably possible as well. You have loads of space between the speaker mount and the door panel. I think I used 1/2" MDF to build it, and it fit a nice deep speaker too!

Just watch out, because GM put in some really cheap door clips that like to shatter

Ok could I use 3/4" mdf? And I already took the door off before to fix the door locks. I think I broke some of those door clips, it doesn't fit how it use to but oh well. Doesn't look different.

And I have a question on box tuning. Would tuning high be louder to the ear. Or would tuning low be? And how could you get that punch in the chest feeling. Tune high or low. And what way would be better for blurring vision? I just want people to get in my car and be like holy crap thats loud. I have two 10" Rsdc's and my friends sub almost sounds louder then mine. He has his single JL audio w3v1 I think. Powered off about 400watts rms. Its also in a prefab box. I have my subs on 1114watts rms total from the Jbl Gto1201.1 amp. How could I get mine to sound louder? I have my subs in a 1cuft box tuned to 33hz.

Higher tuning = louder. Lower tuning = belly rumbles. To get higher tuning, just make your ports shorter.

As for which car will be "louder", it varies lots depending on the vehicle. If your friend had a small CRX or something, then it will be louder than your car, especially considering you are firing through a seat. Alternatively your friend has his gains set way too high and he will fry his amp and sub in no time ;)

3/4" MDF might be too much, but you can try it to see if it works. What I did was remove the 4x6 drivers, then their brackets. I put the bracket on the MDF, and measured out all the mounting holes. Then I took the 5.25" template, and stuck that in the middle. Finally, I cut a shape around everything, leaving a bit of extra space on the edge. It took about an hour to do that, and cut them out with a jigsaw.

After that I fit them and the speakers, and put the door panel over. There was lots of room left.

My rear seat folds down so that helps I noticed. And I think I might give the adaptors a try. And I made slot ports so I can't really cut down the port. I might build a new box though. Would I notice a difference in sound if I used a 3" pvc pipe for the port? Not going to flare it or anything.

It probably would be better to go with the manual specs for the Rsdc 10" hey? I made up a enclosure with RE Audio's enclosure thing. And I got 1.613cuft tuned to 39.29hz. I'm going to put both subs in this enclosure. I made the slot port width 3". Does this sound good or should I make the cuft smaller because in the manual it has a small volume for tuning high?

I just made a new sub enclosure today. It should be done tomorrow.
