they would make one of these but compatible with mp3's. I had one of these and absolutely loved the damn thing until it finally gave out. After that it was damn near $500 to fix it! Needless to say it did not get fixed. :(

Ya everyones 6-disc indash had problems back in the day. I had one from Eclipse, Pioneer and Alpine's 3-disc units were the worst.

Rumor is Pioneer is planning a new indash 6disc. Supposed to be out by summer. I wouldn't hold your breath though.

I send them an email about once a month asking for a mp3 cd changer. If they make an in dash unit that would be the bees knees!! I seriously loved this unit, but the price to fix it was outrageous!!

A little from column a and a little from column b!  j/k

looks mainly like cosmetic differences....contemplated on selling my uninstalled 880prs... and getting a 800prs because it's black  :x

Also the 800prs has a copper chassis. The 880prs I've seen didn't have that.

there is a multiple mp3 unit, most hold far more music than 12 mp3 discs. works with pioneer like a changer would and takes up far less space. dont know if you've heard of it, though. its the disc changer killer called an ipod...

sorry, the door was wide open :-)

Is there really a poitn to have an MP3 changer? I mean, with a song averaging 5 meg and a Cd 700, Thats 140 songs. I know I dont carry that many cds with me. Also, at that point, why not just go with the built in hard drive? Flash memory is cheap as hell and can store a few gigs on it. Why wouldnt you just put 8 gigs worth of flash in it instead of a 6 disk changer?

I think optical disks are going the way of the dinosaur, in all markets.

Of course, for music and video they will still be around for quite some time.

That said, I bet we'll see simple wireless sync/play from music players not too far in the future so that you can just "pair" it with your stereo and play music on your portable, over your stereo much like how bluetooth phone intergration works today.
