Xenon 200.4 ..who is using one and how?

Post by gentlejax2 »

I got a line on one and I am thinking very hard on the monster...

who's using one and how...and how do you like it...?

should be plenty of power which I am a power junkie so thats exactly what I want...especially for what I am trying to get it for..

might very well be the last amp I buy before the birth of my new baby...so it better be good..

...well, that is still 6 months away but yeah ...realistically...my days are numbered...

I am using one in the GF's FJ. The front channels are running a set of Exile comps and the rear channels are bridged to an Exile sub. I love it and would highly recommend it man!

Nope, I did not receive a birthsheet. It does not however dim the lights in the FJ in the slightest. I think it does have the HO alt from the factory though.

I can scan my birthsheet in when I come back from work. Mine will be really under-driven. I'm going to run a set of SD 6 1/2 comps up front and pair of IDQ 10's in the rear. For those that have one , how bad a pig on the electrical is a 200.4 ? My last BIG setup was the MS2125/MS275.

I have 1, running it 4ohm bridged to a pair of Soundstream SPL 12 subs. I love the 200.4, I would buy it again.

I just got one from a car audio shop brand new in box and I am SUPER EXCITED. I have read over the manual 10 times and drooled every time. I love how u can click to ur exact frequency using the crossover instead of "guessing" where the nob is pointed at. This makes it pin point accurate. also 200 X 4 rms? seriously? WOW. power house. and I thought my infinity 110 rms x 4 was a lot. wow 200 x 4 rms... it comes 2morrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!

Awesome to hear! They ARE powerhouses, just HUGE - especially considering what JL Audio has just done with their HD lineup. Big Up to both companies for exciting products always coming out.

I'm getting two of them soon and plan on powering my front TI6 Elites active with one and the other one powering my rear TI6 Elites passive with the front channel and some 8s in the doors (haven't decided what 8s yet) with the rear channel.

This should be good... I'll let you know how it sounds when I do install put everything in.

Huge, yes, but the jl wont do nearly as much power as the 200.4 does. Power nearing 1kw. Lets see jl do that with their 4channels... Besides, for the prices they are going for now, its a no brainer. Also i highly highly doubt that new hd jl is as overbuilt. 8)

Yes - it "only" does 150x4 in something the size of a ream of paper. You should look into it actually, it is a VERY nice amplifier, designed by the same gentleman who brought you the PPI 2350 (art series). He also did the JL Audio Slash series.

JL may be pricey, but they are indeed very nice products - you can't say that they produce garbage or "blingy over rated junk".

I didnt care much for the slash series, and I know jl isnt crap, as I was an authorized dealer at tweeter at one point, but considering size not being an issue, it would be dumb of me to get the jl.. Why would I pay $745.00 to get that, if I can get the 200.4, that has just as many, actually more features, and has waaaaay more power for $250? I could buy a 200.4, a monoblock, and some sound deadning for 750. My car is large, space isnt limited, and even if it was, Ide probably look elsewhere, as the jl's are pricey for what you get.

Indeed, no argument there. I am waiting for them to hit e-bay so the prices will drop a little. I would never pay that much for that amplifier.

What about the alpine pdx 150x4... same as JL? It's also tiny too and extremely efficient with that new iceD amp.

The JL amps use an even more efficient form of switching technology that is "smarter" Plus the JL makes the same power regardless of load or voltage!

the xenon amps do this to, however JL accomplishes this by limiting rail voltage, PG does it by attenuating the output side allowing for more headroom.

we had a jl vs pg debate about that their RIPS VS xe.load ratings. i will try and find the thread.

also, the PG amps make equal power to the JL line up at 12 volts, but increase output as you climb toward 14.4 ( you had to know we would talk up PG over here....i like JL a lot...but i still think PG makes a better amp)

All I see is "blah blah blah, I'm a dirty beer pong chump"

:)

What about efficiency? J/K J/k can't compare them fairly.

I love my Xenon.. soon to be Xenons! They aren't going anywhere.

The alpine pdx amps are very nice, and make the same power as the jls.. They are a little pricey too, just like the jl, but at 400 bux, it is a bargin compared the the 750 the jl goes for
