Im sure this has been done before but I could'nt find what I was looking for....
If money was no object what would you chose for each of the following
head unit- p9 combo vs. 7990 vs 7909 vs cdxc90 vs z1(my choice) vs ?
front stage- dynaudio, focal, morel ??
rear fill-(as if it mattered)
subs sq and volume powered by ~500w

Im biased to phoenix amps but id like to hear what other people think about the zapco dc series or other high end amps

most importantly processors(eq/crossovers)
please not just "insert your brand here" is the bomb...give me some real reasons, this would be for sq

focal is french and has metal dome tweets which both suck

you might look at these also:

http://www.hertzaudiovideo.com/default_en.htm

they recently did some serious damage in the car audio mag high end comp shoot out, placing second to the morel supremo's for far less money.

imo...rear fill doesnt matter at all.

for amps....i think PG xenon's are amazing at any price, let alone their low price points right now.

i havnt seen zapco's guts yet, but i'm sure they are top notch also

For headunit I would choose P9. It is very good cd player and DEQ-P9 is one of few true 4 way DSP's. For dome midrange speakers it is almost only way to go. I haven't experienced with Alpines products but what I have heard, 7990 with PXA-H900 is excelent too.

Which Focal speakers? Utopia BE? If you want more choices, DLS Nobelium and Iridium series speakers are hard to beat. Very natural sounding all the way from bass to highest freqs.

For subs: DLS Nobelium or Iridium series or JL Audio W6V2 series. Do I have to say why?

PG amps are of course my favourites too. But if it would be something else, I would go with DLS TA2 (tubeamps) for front spekers and A6 to sub(s). TA2 makes tweeters sound so sweet. Pricey side of street, but who cares?

If money was no object and you had room.

Front Stage- I am no expert on this, I would sample a few set with your own ears. I have always wanted to try the Dynaudio's

Sub - PG Cyclone and use additional Subs
Amp - I am partial to PG, I am sure their are better amps out their, I am not sure I would really be able to tell teh difference in an auto application. My Ultimate choice would PG MS1000TA, MS1000, SOFAS or FAS mount with the plexiglass facing up.

ok, I am sure I replied to this

but here goes,

I use the focal K3P , dual 6in midbass and they are awesome, the tweeter is smooth unlike a lot of other metal tweerters.

For Woofer I say DD , 9100 or 3500 series, very good in the right box with the right power.

Headunit , well I used a 7618 for a long time , so for me it would have to be the 7909 , i am old skool.

and amps I love PG , so it has to be either MS ot Ti ......

EQ's and X-Overs , PG all the way man , EQ230 or TiDeq and A406 or 204

I'm using a alpine H/U and processor, with a dyn front stage. If I weren't using my Xtant amps, I'd look for some old ZPA's. I used a C90 in the past, and loved the sound, hated the display, processor options are limited. If you are real serious, a look at the f#1 stuff may be necessary.

I have a 7909 that need a little of c's tlc,but being that my it is an original it might be time to look at something new. I have a bunch of pg ms(275,430,2125) a zpa .3 as well, im leaning towards a tideq but want more feed back as far as usefullness(adjustability of eq, bands, xo points ect..), i was in love with the original focal stuff but i know it has changed.
True nothing replaces hearing it yourself but the more info i have before i waste my time the better. As far as subs i am partial to the w6's but rsdcs are worth looking at from what i've heard...

denon based headunit

focal audioms/utopias

velodyne for sub

eq230 and ppi frx456

pg ms amps of course!

this is what i'm running and i'm picky about what i run, at this moment i wouldn't swap any of it out although i just picked up some zapco eq-30l's i'm tempted to try 8)
