Ryval 400.1 Being Benched

Just wanted to share:
Roland is benching a new unit to the PG lineup which is worthy of mention.
It's the Ryval 400.1, production sample. (not shipping just yet)
While not the showboat of your dreams, the newest addition to this hardy, entry(cough), line has a few features I wanted you all to know about.
First off, this is a class A/B monoblock. It does closer to 500 watts than 400. It has full range output, highpass, and lowpass. The output stage is 5 pairs of Toshiba T0-3 monster transistors, with room for one more pair already on board.
All you need are a bucket of these things and a hoop of speakers and you have God's own headroom in your system. One for the lefts, one for the rights, one for each subwoofer. You get my drift. It's the same size as a 1502, with an LPL, naturally.
It's not just a product line filler, it has much more potential than the average Ryval, and shows a direction we are taking with all the new stuff coming along.

Sounds like an interesting idea behind the amp. I suppose PG has to have pretty convincing reasons to put time and money into everything involved in designing, building and marketing new models like this so I'm sure quite a bit of thought has gone into why this amp should exist and what it is built to accomplish.
I like the LPL inclusion, of course.
You're talking about using three or more of these amps for an install... was there any thoughts about link bars like the XSlink thingies? That might be cool from a purely visual perspective.

that might lead to some surfboard installs!
i could see doing 3 of those suckers!

ohhh wicked, sounds awesome and back to class a/b designs, which I stil like more then the class D's we have been geting of late. I thinhk class AB is where PG made it's name and should be where it stays.
Power output is not everything, vut control and good sound is

I certainly dont need that kinda power but I imagine these wouldn't sound half bad on my components.

It has full range output, highpass, and lowpass
So that would mean you can bypass the x-overs.

They shoudl have done this with the RSD300.1...
If they did I would have 4 of them in my car.

ive been considering going to a class a/b amp for my sub. currently i have kenwood excelon kac x10d. i think it sounds good but in the future im sure ill have an opportunity to get a new amp. what are the advantages of running class ab's vs a class d on the sub in general?

to me a/b has a cleaner crisper sound. if the subs are in a trunk i cant tell the diff. between class d and a/b amps, if they are in a hatch back it becomes obvious to me very quickly. a/b amps draw a lot more currant to run than class d which is a disadvantage but worth it to me. also as far as i know nobody makes a fullrange class d amp, last i checked they put out to much distortion on mid an high freq.

thanks.
i have another question since u bring up the trunk dilemma which i would fall into. if i walled off the trunk would that potentially sound better?

not entirely true, the tantrum 1200.1 is a class d that plays full range..

Tantrum 1200.1 uses the Tripath chip. I think calling it Class T is marketing fluff, but it's certainly no run of the mill Class D either.

There are also a bunch of manufacturers using Bang & Olfufsen's I.C.E. technology to accommodate full-range class d amplifiers. I'm personally aware of some Pioneer and Eclipse amps in addition to the very popular Alpine PDX line that all use these B&O chipsets to achieve big power in a tiny footprint for multichannel amplifiers. While you may question the sound quality priorities of some of these brands there are even more impressive companies (from an sq perspective) in the home side of things using similar full-range switching amps in their offerings. We're talking about brands like Jeff Rowland and Rotel.
I just made this post to share some info though, not to draw any praise or appreciation from such a cool amp as this Ryval. I still run big, monsterously inefficient class A/B amps. Even on my sub-stage!

I can't find any press release on the AAMP of America website stating the deal has been finalized.
