taking a tantrum 600.4 apart?

Post by Jacampb2 »

This cannot be that difficult, but I am stuck. Any pointers? I have had my 1200.1 apart, and although it's been some time, I don't recall it being this difficult. I can move the bottom cover .125" either direction, but can't seem to clear the pots and inputs on the one end, or screw terminals on the other. Granted, I am really frigging tired, only slept 4 hours today, but it can't be this difficult...

TIA,
Jason

You'll need to remove ALL of the adjustment knobs. Remove the screws in both sides. Once this is done, slide the bottom over the adjustments and lift that end up alittle. BE CAREFUL!!!!!! There is a ribon wire/conection. After you get the bottom up enough, slide it off over the connection terminals but don't force it as it should be kinda easy to slide.
Those tender little burgers with them little, itty-bitty grilled onions that just explode in ya mouth like flavor crystals every time you bite into one.. just makes me want to burn this muthafuka down.... Come on, Pookie, let's burn this muthafuka down!!!

Ah damn, eBay sellers suck... I just had to take it apart...

One set of bipolar transistors shot, damn near burned through the board. A A06 and A56 pair if memory serves, along with the gate resistor, and a nearby cap that looks like it got some fall out from the transistor shorting. All in all I will have to put in a $3 order to digikey, sadly they have a minimum $25 order, so I will have to stock up on other shit too.

I am probably going to replace the power supply caps in my M100, so once it gets here from eGaydom, I will put in an order.

Thanks for the info on getting it apart.

Jason

crap, yep thats the common failure on those. you might try emailing cecal - scbezjak@sbcglobal.net. he might have those in stock for you to buy as he repairs these for a living. might just save you on the minimum order
