i know that 4awg is what i wanna run from my disto to my 1200.1, but would i ever actually notice the difference if i use good 5awg instead? the only reason i consider it an option is cuz i've got a buncha 5 sittin around from my old install. if the realistic difference would be nill, then i'd prolly rather go with what i've got rather than pay for new stuff. however, if 4awg is the true minimum, i'm not too much of a miser to do what's right....so what's up dudes

For such a powerful amp, I'd seriously consider throwing down some money for 4 gauge, minimum. It may seem to work just fine on less, but you could also end up power starving your amp if you can't run enough current over that wire.

yeah... i'll pick up the 4awg...mainly so i dont ever have to wonder if i'm making a mistake later...peace of mind can be invaluable. guess i just needed someone to reenforce what i felt inside (i think i do that alot)...thnx fuzzy

u can use 0ga power cables if u wan too

For a 1200 watt amp you should use 0 gauge. Plus if you ever decide to run another amp you are set. Buy what you need once so that you don't end up buying twice. How long of a run is it from battery to amp?

5 gauge?

I have never seen that before. Is it just a small 4 gauge or what?

Assuming a very short distance from your 0 gauge/distro block, I assume it would be fine... as long as it is a big 5 gauge, and not an 8 gauge with a big plastic sheath.

he is running 1/0 to the block, the rsd1200.1 only allows 4awg in

yeah...what Bfowler said...it'll prolly be around a 14' run of 1/0 to the disto, then about 2' of 0/4 to the rsd 1200.1 and the 250.2.....the 5awg is Scoshe...i actually thought it was 4awg till i looked at the print and 5 it is.
