looking for a change...while staying in the PG family

right now i have a rsd 12d in a 1.8 cuft sealed with a rsd 600.1
she loves the power and she puts out great no complaints there

and i read this http://phoenixphorum.com/my-new-sub-is- ... t4649.html and started thinking..

just comparing to some of my other systems i had in the past.. at one point i had 2 alpine type r's the older ones i think they were rated at 300 rms....i had them in a slot ported box on a Phoenix Gold Octane-R 5.0:1

the bass was retarded loud....but extremly quick at the same time...mostly for punk and stuff the double kicks were precious no sloppiness and loud and deep...

even my 1999 orion hcca 12 was more controlled...wasnt comparable to the type r's though...orion was way louder but the sq wasnt there

im just looking at my options...ideally if i could get something like the type r's but pg...

looking for the tight deep bass from the double kicks ( alot of it is mid's but theres still lacking quite a bit from the woffer)

and the days i wanna put in a bass cd she can do some tearing...the type r's have so far been the best setup i've had...looking to regain some of that in the PG family

either way looking for a solution where im just changing subs or adding...while keeping just my rsd 600.1

im thinking?
add a 2nd rsd 12d and change box

sell my rsd12d and get a couple comp 10's

or sell mine get a comp 12?

thanks for ANY input or guidance

i think the pair of RSDcomp 10's would suit you!

you could even try porting those....

a rsdc12 would probibly as well

adding another rsd12 would be pointless really.

i also thought pointless nun the less it is an option i suppose...i am leaning towards 2 10 comps or a single 12 comp..pro and cons of either setup?

the only con i can think of is it might hard loosing a octave or two in the lower end of the spectrum by going with the RSDc10's (which play a bit higher then the rsd's anyway, and then moving to the 10's vs the 12)

and the $$$....

like a huge difference? the lowest thing i can think of in my music besides a bass cd...is in some of my music theres the " bass bins"
http://webzoom.freewebs.com/strange-daz ... issing.JPG

so just a retarded loud low deep epic what ever word you want to use..just a retarded hit of bass...i really dont want to loss that...that part is fine with my current setup..

i should also mention...this is in a dodge durango...so one big open space...

its not that the 10's wont play it, its just that the RSDs have a unique curve where they will play the same note louder.

lits say the 10's play 6 db louder at 60hz...but if a 30hz note comes along. the 12 will be about equal to the 10's. making the 10's less loud at lower notes by comparison.

i hope that made some sort of sense...I'm really bad at explaining stuff like that

loudness
60 hz
10 comps > 12 rsd
30 hz
10 comps < 12 rsd

where is this literature you speak of?

doing some reading on bass bins..most are made in the 45hz to 60hz

the lowest really is a low octane E at 41hz

what really goes down to 30 hz thats common...

if you listen to rock..hardly anything. (electric synthesizers)

if you listen to rap and electronica....lots. 8)

okay but the 10 comps should be about equal too my current 1 rsd in the terms of lowness...which is already adequate

so 2 10's would actully keep the low end i already have but add some of the other stuff im looking for

i just checked with my grandpa...he cant bring in PG any more...so there goes me getting pg at cost...

he can bring in exile hertz audioson and bazooka...im not sure on these products havnt heard good or bad or anything for that matter

am i better off with pg still...i know this is a pg forum...but am i better off paying the quite a bit extra for pg

exile doesnt make a comptetor for the RSDc yet. the new shift look very compariable to the normal RSD's.

hertz would be worth looking into IMO then. i havnt heard a word about audison speakers...but i would asusme they are good

Depends on the price difference, I suppose. If you're going to save hundreds going with something else, it might be attractive.

By all accounts so far, the RSd Competition woofers are absolutely fantastic, for any price range, really and passing them up to save some money now might seem like a mistake in the long run if the woofer(s) you get instead aren't blowing you away.

im gonna go price pg at a local shop here..unless i ebay but shipping kills to canada and most are sold in the us

well they want 250 per sub for the 10" rsd comps

i easily found a new one on ebay 119.00 each

which is pretty tempting...is there any other subs ...dual 10's or a single 12 i should look at in any brand...??

right now...i don't think so.

not within the under 350 price range...

the alpine type r 10's seem like a comparable sub...and about the same price range...they aren't as well built?

:? comparable how? i would put the alpines in a cage fight against those PG's any day of the week.

well my rsd musta read this thread and decided to commit suicide...suspension is fine and everything no burnt smell

but no continuity on either coil

though if i push a certain way on the rubber surround she sparks back up and sounds great

till i let go
