New. Looking for confirmation on XS amps.

Post by BLACKonBLACK98 »

Let me start off by saying whats up. I found this forum after googling for hours trying to get as much info as possible before i make a purchase. I am new to PG and would have never geussed I'd be looking at older amps for my build, but after researching and researching i think it might be the way to go.

I am looking at buying 2 XS6600s to run my active 4 way system. All my processing/crossovers will will be handled by an h701 so I am looking for something that can give me some good, clean power without all the bells and whistles. I finally found the manual for these amps (thanks btw) and I'm loving the simplicity of the it with everything defeated. Not to mention I really like the simple classic look.

So whats the word on these amps? Should I pull the trigger?

Welcome to the forums!

Yes I think you would be happy with that amp line. As you say it's a pretty clean look and simple layout. With 2 of them you would have plenty of channels to work with!

Welcome to the phorum!

the xs amps rock. I have about 11 of them in various forums.

the xs6600 is essentially a xs4300 and xs2300 in the same heat sink

they are very realizable, and even if you do happen to do something dumb (I have a couple times... ) they are pretty easy to work on and repair.

also, we have a sticky somewhere with all the R-net values if you want to swap them out of the xs amp. (not sure if you are using any the crossovers on board...but a helpful read if so)

i checked the rnet info out but was much more excited when i found out i could defeat all the crossovers. simplest way is usually the best, right?

1 more question...

i was reading some old reviews (and later the manual) where they keep referring to the input voltage as .1-3v. with the h701 the signal will be at 4 volts.

i have a general understanding of input voltage/gain but have never come across a scenario where the signal was higher than the range (that i know of anyway).

i'm assuming its nothing to be concerned with...

CDT drt-25, hd-3, and m6 3 way active front stage.

sub duty will be ib 8" of some variety. looking at id8v.3, new sundown e8, or these cheap ed ehqs 8s i just picked up. i'll probably do a little shootout and pic whichever sounds best.

Not to deter you away from the XS but if you needed to save a little room in the install you could look at a Ti900.7 also. The Ti is very versatile.

i looked at that one also but i would still need more than 1 to get the power i'm looking for. room isnt a huge issue as my trunk will be built around whatever i end up with. thats one of the things that made me go ib. with tanks, compressors, batteries, amps, etc. i cleared out a lot of room by not having a box. but i also want to get those low lows.

1) theres a lot of other stuff going into the trunk

2) going for a real clean look. i don't want to wall off most of my trunk with a box

3) i've heard good things concerning sq and ib

4) maximas hold a lot of sound in the trunk. i think i might be able to get a close to equal output level in the cabin ib

sw/uptown.

well guys... its been fun, but looks like i'm going another route. after what seems like forever i finally decided... then as quick as it came it went away. i have been lured away at the last minute by an unbeatable deal, but should it fall through i'll be back to the xs6600.
