I've been pondering a few options about my new install.
I just purchased a Pioneer P880PRS which has 16 bands of equalization and also the ability to Auto EQ which I haven't tried out yet.
I also have an EQ215 and a EQ215x.
I'm debating which route to go with.
Options are: 1. Just use the 880PRS equalizer with Auto EQ.
2. Just use the EQ215(x).
3. Use the Auto EQ on the 880PRS and then set the EQ215(x) to the same settings. (Basically see what frequencies to boost/cut by looking at the 880 after Auto EQ
and copying it to the EQ215(x).
Is there really any major difference by using the 880's EQ as opposed to the EQ215?
If I don't have to add another processor to the equation, I really don't want to, but if it will sound better I'm not going to be against it.
Any suggestions?
Equalizer Question
You would have the bennifit of having seperate left and right EQ with the 215. As well as the 2-way x-over with the 215x. Does the pioneer have x-over functions? I don't remember.
However you would lose fade and sub control capabilities of the head unit if you went with the PG EQs. 1 input - 1 output (2 out on the 215x hi/low) Although you can have sub control with the LPL out put on the 215X.
I suppose if ease is most important then the pioneer's set-up would be fine. If you want more precise control, then the PGs get the vote. I wouldn't recommend using the Auto EQ to copy over to the PG. The result would almost definately be different.

Yeah, the 880 has seperate L and R EQ.the 880 has seperate left and right also I think

I'm not too worried about the crossover functions of the 880 as I'll be using the TI500.4 crossovers running active to the fronts,
and a X600.1 with LPL to run the subwoofer which also has crossovers. I kind of figured that I couldn't copy the 880's Auto EQ
settings to the PG, but I wasn't 100% sure. I guess I'll try the 880 with Auto EQ, then try the 880 w/out Auto EQ and then try
running the 215 to the Ti500.4 and the 215x to the X600.1 and see what sounds best.
Thanks for all the help!
