Custom M100/M44 Idea tank

Post by Jacampb2 »

I am starting this thread mainly to post my Acad drawings of my proposed Super Amp. I know others have done similar things. I know Fuzzyhonutz has a interesting plan in mind for some as well. I want you all to share your opinions on my design as I go, to make sure I don't make any mistakes I will regret.

Also, if you want to post up pics of yours, or stuff you have seen over the years, we can keep them all in one "ideas" thread in case others ever want to do the same.

In my Acad drawing, the blue lines are all internal to the new case, they provide the forced air ducting for the sinks. The red is obviously the sinks, and they are going to be covered completely by the new shroud with exhaust on either end. The fan cut outs are the BioHazard symbol, I have always liked how it looks. I used it for the custom wheels in my 4WD buggy too :)

I did originally spend time photochopping a RT66 logo to be RT666, but I am not sure I like it. I will post a shot of it later. I am looking for ideas of what to put on the amp cover. I am thinking plexi windows over each amp, with some engraving. I have finished measuring the M100 and adding the cutouts in cad. This is purposely in all one plane with no bends, so I can cut it with it flat and then bend the shroud to make dealing with the cuts easier. The sheet of aluminum showed up at the steel yard today, so maybe in the next few weeks I will start.

Here is the picture so far...

Here is the Rt666 logo, but like I said, I don't really think I am going ot use it...

Hmmmm... The idea sucks that bad then? Seriously, I won't get all butt hurt if you guys tell me it sucks. I want to hear honest advise before I go further.

On a side note, I got my sheet of aluminum yesterday. Holy shit, the price went out the roof and took the damn ceiling with it. About 2 years ago was the last I bought sheets, and bought about half a dozen 4x8 16g sheets while working on my 4x4 buggy. Paid $60 a sheet.

Ordered one sheet of 16g aluminum, 4x8, $153. Ouch.

Good news is I can punch a lot of crap out of it, so it wont go to waste. But damn it hurts to drop that much coin on just one piece of metal!

Later,
Jason

If you plan on making the amp look like a limited edition that PG themselves would have made then I'd get rid of the biohazard symbols. They traditionally were pretty reserved in the sheetmetal dept.

I think combining the two amps and making a new cover is a great idea and is one that I've toyed with for a while. I think if the cover has all of the artwork milled as mentioned then it will look great. Personally I'd make up a new logo for the amp and call it an M144.
