hello and goodday iam new forum member

Post by jorik »

but i know this nice forum and look arround many times
and wondering how much people have or use older phoenix gold amp's.

for now iam found olso last at 30 april a secondhand ms275
on a market in holland (only 20 euro) i was thinking not bad price!
later at home i see en open it and need a revision for th powercaps.
cz the where leaking on outlayprint.
so i did replace this caps with simulair new caps last week and
test it together with my homehifi bass enclosure and go playing again! yes i was wondering that such old amp still running after the replacement with new caps.

now i need to know why the internal speakerwiring at mainprintboard
from left&right channels is crossed to conectionblock at frontpanel becoz. print say black is grounding both channels!

i think its like this (minus - is blackwired) & (positive + is redwired)

but if u look to the tekst on frontplate from rightchannel it says
postive. + =blackwired and minus.=redwired.

pls somebody know why this is connected like this?

Welcome to the Phorum! Always good to see new members signing up.

I am no amplifier technician, but isn't it wired like that so you can bridge the channels as well as run them independently?

I believe the MS amps are all internally bridged or are considered dual mono amps. Someone that has more technical knowledge can better explain.

welcome to the phorum.......yes the ms series amps are wired out of phase internaly for bridging the amps, so your amp is wired correctly internaly

ms275 isn't dual mono, the larger ms2125's are though. i just changed the caps in one of my ms2125's, they were all leaking like mad, when i was de soldering the old caps i could hear the fluid evaporating as i gave it some heat with the iron!!
