Slot Port RSD's
Slot Port RSD's
i've been playin around with WinISD lately and ive decided to build a new box, gonna try a ported box this time. ive ended up with a 3.5cuft box tuned to 32hz. does these sound like okay numbers for a rsd12?
thanks in advance,

Well why else would u go slot port unless u wanted louder?
7 cu ft is pretty damn big for 2 12's! It's will take a lot more port area to tune at 32 hz. Will it get loud at low freequencys is the question. How much power will those subs take? Yes more output. Theres always a cabin gain! Maybee 7hz gain would give u about 39 which in theroy sounds great but most bass is much higher. Not knowing power levels it should get into 120 db range, so ya every db counts! JMHO

On RSD subs? Those things are low end beasts. Tuning them to 37Hz would be extremely peaky, plus you'd lose all of the bottom end that the subs are famous for.crx4spl wrote:I would tune a little higher like 37hz
what type of car, a Suv that will take a lot to get low and loud.
How much power u have?
If you were tuning a typical subwoofer which is more suited to higher bass notes, like the Ryvals, I would agree with you.

I'm no ported expert by any stretch...but from what i have seen and read, the box you initially designed sounds perfect as it would build on what the subs are already good at. maybe Marc (brenzbmr) can chime in to either confirm this, or confirm CRX's advice on a higher tuning frequencies

have u checked out the specs? i know when ive played around wityh slot/port boxes( most recently, switching from 3 10"s to 2 10's, then having to build seperate chambers b/c im using a rsd1200.1 per sub, it can get real tricky real quick- right now im running the diaMOND audio d6s(the are 4 ohms, wired in prallell = 2ohms for each amp-however i will be switching to 2 new rsdc 10(4ohms, soon, initialy i changed my chambers to accomodate 1.20 cubic ft. per chamber, that his the min. spec for the diamonds(which they just pound!!!, but when i get the new rsdc 10s in 4ohms, i know that is almost .40 cubic ft. than the specs, anyways, both my ports are 1.5inch wide, by 12" tall, and go back to 10.1 inches, and the diamonds are great, ive built 3 other boxes for rsdc and have accomodated making the boxes between .15-.40 larger-to accomodate port, and i may switch upto rsdc 12s( which i believ the specs show them at 1.25 cubic foot? i think, but heres a pic
