I was playing with some of the equalizer settings (not the bass boost) and raised the 50hz up to 2 over zero.

So i was blasting it for 15 minutes or so at full volume (by full i mean when i set the gains this was the highest i went)

I felt the cone of the sub after and it was pretty hot, so i put the equalizer setting back down to 1 over zero and let it cool off.

i can't tell if it was clipped from that...you don't have to clip it to rail the hell out of it!

you are pushing a 1200.1 to it right?

x600.1 But im squeezing 820watts out of it (as per birth sheet)

This is going to an RF Punch HX2 (500watts, but everyone says to run 800 - 1000 watts on them)

It's pretty bad if the actual CONE gets hot  Unless it's metal though

And you don't need to clip for it to get hot.. sending too much wattage to it will do just fine. But if you're playing real music and not just test tones and stuff like that there's enough movement and variation going on so that the VC cools down a bit, so in some cases you might exceed the thermal power rating of the sub by 10x or so and it'll be fine, but if you're playing a test tone for 15 seconds it's gonna melt down (happened to me several times  )

yeah, it will be fine once in a while, but don't make a habbit of getting it that hot.

voice coils and formers can still warp even though your sub isnt blown.

I think i need a sub with a higher senitivity rating, i always seem to get it up around the max volume to get loud. I guess its because i have a big car with the sub in a trunk that doesnt have a pass through :(

My RSD12 was the same thing, never seemed "very loud"

Hows the rsd12c
