bass cube or external sub crossover@ 24db/octave

Post by thedeal7235 »

wanna know what any of u guys think-=i luv using my 2 rsd 1200.1s for my 2 subs(individually) but i had an old tantrum external crossover laying around, so i hooked that up, and (which it is at 12db/octave), and did notice the subs cleaned up- so, the bass cubes slope is aT 18db/octave( and yes i know this piece of equipment was only meant to restore low freq. lost during reproduction-, i havent heard a cube in years, and have been looking at an audiocontrol external xover(i know they are 24db/octave on the scale-for the 6xs)-so let me know what anyone thinks

As far as my understanding goes, the BassCube is NOT a normal crossover. It's a bassboost and subsonic filter. That is, it boosts certain frequencies and prevents frequencies below human-audible levels from reaching the subwoofer. It doesn't appear to have a crossover for setting the top limit for a subwoofer, just a low limit.

So, if you're running a BassCube without a normal lowpass filter, your sub is playing from 25Hz and up, no lowpass at all!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
