You can listen to any music you want using a sealed box , IMO a sealed box hits more of the notes than most ported boxes do. Yes , a ported box seem to really push alot of the notes louder on rap and r and b but maybe ya need to change some other settings if r and b sounds bad. Just my .02 cents.

The RSD comp 12 is tighter and a bit less muddy on bass than the regular series. It's not an enormous difference, but I definitely prefer the comp.

i can listen to r&b and rap but it just doesn't feel the same..selaed box bass is 'deeper' but i cant push it too loud with r&b type songs...and wht r ur opinion on two 10' and 1 12'??and how abt the rsd comp???does it sound better in selaed or ported??

Sounds like what you need is more power, or a ported box.

I think sealed vs ported really comes down to preferences. If you need a one-note-wonder box for specific kinds of music, ported is definitely the way to go.
From what I've seen, most "overall" SQ people lean towards sealed and most "tons of output" and SPL people lean towards ported but I know that isn't the end all be all of the discussion.
Also for increased output, you have to consider cabin gain and which way your sub is facing to produce the most cabin gain possible. Try pointing your subs back, forward, whatever and see what setup has the most output.

How big is your box? I found the plain RSDs need a huge box to sound good. You should have at least 1.5cuft-2cuft PER sub. The RSD comps seem to like much smaller enclosures, 1.0-1.5 per sub.

1.22 sounds perfect for the comp... but small for the regular one.
