Morel Tempo vs Dotech Ovation, upgrading?

I am in newbie heaven, reading through the threads on the board. It seems I am buying something new everyday based on you recommendations so here's new issue.

I think I made a mistake yesterday in moving my tweeters higher up in the door. I moved the Tempo 6 tweets to the top of the door in my 99 Ranger, this gives them about 9 inches separation from the 6"mid. The cross over that comes with only comes with a +3db attenuation.

So, I am thinking about upgrading to the dotechs to get basically get better everything (especially the crossover). I have not been able to compare the dotechs to the tempos side by side but the dotech tweeter seems to be less harsh and a bit more tight than the tempos in the board I listened to. I think the tempos sounded good when the tweeter was closer to the woofer, now things are not blended so well.

Maybe I was just spoiled by my 6" 4" tweet set up from the quarts that I am expecting to much here. I know that Morel's 3 way setup is expensive.

My Deck is the Kenwood DDX7015 so I have some eq controls but have not found a sweet spot

I see the elite 6 pop on ebay on occasion but I like to hear things when I get into the 300 dollar price range.

Anyone work with the Morel line around here?

You could also spend some money doing EQ/RTA work, or running the speakers actively. This gives you way more control over sound than just changing your speakers.

ah, good point, I really do think some extra tunning is what I need.
