Hello all, I have next to no experience with high end car audio and have a couple of questions. I have had just about enough of my stock 2008 Corolla stereo and want to upgrade. Saw this amp at a yard sale ($20, says it works, what a steal) and thought it would be a good place to start. I don't have the urge to shake the ground with a sub. Would like to know if I could just work with a pair of 6x9s? Any recommendations for speakers? Would I need a cap? Front doors have 6s I think. If I bought new speakers for the front would the amp run them as well? Thanks in advance.

Well congrats on a great amp for a steal! You might want to check the caps in the amp for replacement first just so that you don't loose it. If you have Qs about that do a search for cap replacement.
As for speakers you could run both highs and a sub with this amp if you wanted. It has what is called a Triple Darlington mode that allows it to run in both stereo and bridged mode at the same time.
As for what it will run check the specs on it here and get a feel for that.
If once you install it you notice your lights dimming at night then worry about a cap.
welcome and let us know if there are other Qs.

Congrats, and welcome!
NOW FIRST REPLACE THE INPUT FILTERING CAPS!!!! [or have it done].
It would be a shame if your steal would go up in flames....
Best practice is input filtering caps, railcaps and silpads replacement IMO.
You will find all the info you need here on the forum.
There is a lot of knowledge amongst the people here; use it!

p.s; you don't want THIS..... [well known pic from Eric D.]
