Well, I have installed my new (to me) ZX-500, I have a very large thump every time I switch a song or turn my head unit on. It is only in my sub amp (not my ZX-350), I have tried different RCA's, switching the power/ground w/ my other amp to no avail. At this point I am open for any opinions. Thanks for the help guys, Mike

Mike ,
This is the brand new one you were talking about? from Portland? right?
Is your ground on your head unit installed to the factory wiring or are you running the power and ground from the HU straight to the battery?
Have you tried the ZX500 on another pre out on your 9887? See if that does anything , then you will know if its your deck

Evidently you didnt read my post, I tried different rca's, power, ground, everything. No thump w/ the zx-350, thump through the zx-500. nothing to do w/ my head unit...

Whoa brother

I did read your post and you didnt state anything about you changing the power and ground for your deck , I just thought that you messed with the amplfiers ground and power not the HU.
I had a simialr problem and it helped that I regrounded everything straight to my battery , after finding out that it was my HU that was sending the noisy signal(I could hear my door locks) I made a common ground for everything on my batt andmostly everything went away.

I had a zx-450 and zx-350 installed, no problems. the thump started when I put in the zx-500... man this sucks! i swapped install spots on both amps, the thump stays w/ the 500. sorry for being a little ornery, i was burned by this puke dan hill in portland on this amp and i sure am hot about it. i have over 1000 miles of driving coming up this weekend and am not looking forward to no sub amp the entire time. sigh.

Sorry to hear about your zx500. Have you contacted this Dan Hill about this? You might be able to get your money back.
Its all good about ya being a little short , I would be too. The ZX500 is a fine amp and it stinks that yours is acting up.

Not your fault, the world is full of assholes. He said he would refund my money if I sent him the amp back, less shipping both ways. Ya, right. Like I am going to send it back to him and never get a dime back. He is a terrible person to deal with.
