i just got a zx450 and the fan just blips and doesn't spin as such, it feels free, is the fan broke or the circuit faulty? i suppose i could desolder it and put 12v through it to find out

Probably just a cruddy old fan. You can replace it with anything you like, as long as it has the same dimensions, voltage and CFM rating. Good time to install a quieter fan, if you can find one that fits.
Hooking it up to 12v should remove all doubts!

You can get the correct fan from mouser.com. It's made by ADDA and the part number is AD0812HB-D71-LF. This would be the V2 fan, used in the ZPA & ZX series amps.

Hi Guys,
I want to replace my cooling fans of my zpa v1 amp.
As I read the topic above, the ADDA make fan is the one for the
v2 amps.
But when I go to the manufacturer site,I see that this fan is not exactly the same one PG had used in the ZPA,ZX V2 amps.
The v2 has 7 fins, but this model has 10 fins.
Can someone exactly tell me what make, part number the 7fin cooling fan pg had originally used for their v2 amps?
Thanks in advance.
regards.
Brian.

Can you replace it with a fan with higher CFM as long as it matches dimensions/voltage?

I would, the more air movement the better!

Don't forget wattage or amperage too!
If dimension, voltage, and current match, you can fit anything you like.

This is the exact fan used, the picture shown is just a representation....but this is the fan.

If you jump the fan instead of using PG's way to hook it up....you can use any 12v fan and it will run full speed all the time instead of varying speeds. Delta fans are the best bang for the buck if you are looking to upgrade the fan.
