New soundstream is on par with flea market gear. Stay away... JL would be okay, but they tend to be overpriced for the quality you get (minus being able to use any load, I would put it up against PG's Ryval line, which is much cheaper).

Old soundstream amps are in my top 3. It's really too bad that brand was bought out and run into the ground, just like PPI :(

Ok that sucks to hear... Well what if I convinced my dad to get a ZX350 which says 100 RMS X 2 to power the boston acoustic 125rms speakers. Is that a good match up? Enough power? Clean sound? Im hoping the ZX350 will show the boston pro60s whose boss and just have abundance of power...

PLENTY of power, trust me (us?)... You would be hard pressed to find a cleaner amp under $400 (or more)...

Ok if he wins it, and doesnt like it ill deffinately take it from him to power my rsd65cs. So im guessing most definately 10/10 the ZX350 beats the JL audio 300/2 by a long shot. Right? How much would you guys pay for a ZX350?

I don't understand the 300/2 ratings.

The output ratings are shown with a range of ohm loads. Does that mean this amp makes the same amount of power at each load, much like the Xenon with xe.load?

I don't think you can go wrong with the ZX350 or the JL 300/2. They will both, under normal circumstances, provide ample power for your average higher-end component set. I think "SQ" is going to be subjective, but the ZX series have a great reputation in that regard.

Soundstream = Power Acoustic.

JL's have always had the 'impedance matching' circuitry. I always viewed the Xenon amps as PG's direct shot at competeing with JL.

Yep... and to be honest, I really miss Xe.load. They did a much better job with it than JL did, as it still allows you to keep all of the headroom of the amp. JL's restriction is much tighter, so it makes the amps sound flat and dull by comparison.

x2 on the ZX amp being a good idea. Those things are cheap as dirt right now, but they pack a ton of performance into a small chassis. Along with the Xenons, those are a great bang for the buck deal. Speaking of which, there's an X200.2 and X100.2 in the classifieds right now, which would also do a great job of powering those comps.

I wouldnt call jl overpriced, rather than just being very expensive. If they were overpriced, than they wouldn't sell 8)

Overpriced shit sells all the time, just look at Monster Cables. It's called consumer ignorance. You work at Tweeter, you should know! :lol:

Okay, not saying that people who buy JL equipment are ignorant, and it's still good gear, it's just not worth the money to me is all... so I guess you're right, it's just expensive ;)

I agree, you pay alot for what you get, but atleast its a good product.. With that being said, their are alot of other companies far more expensive than jl, and can be considered very pricey/ or overpriced according to some :lol: macintosh, zapco, treo, dynaudio,boston, ect..

Well Ill have you guys know that instead of buying the JL audio 300/2 I went ahead and got a ZX350 for the components. I hope that I made a good choice. I am super excited to see the capabilities/sound qualities and output of this amp. I told my dad if he didnt like it, to give it to me! haha. Im trying to get a ti 400.2 for myself. I think the ZX350 and Ti 400.2 are similar...

Theoretically yes, but it's a difference of about 10-15 watts, which is wholly inaudible. The Ti series are more reliable and have better crossovers.

But when it all comes down to it, they are basically equivalent.
