You are looking for the "remote" wire that shows current when the car is on, possibly? In a 98 camry don't have a clue as to what color that wire would be. You could trace it back to the HU and look for a label there.

The remote wire is normally blue however connect it to a switched live (you'll need a mutimeter) if you dont have a remote out on the back of your headunit
Alpine 9887 > Audiocontrol 6xs
PPI PCX-2200 --> Ti9 Elite mids (50-200hz)
PG M44 --> Dynaudio MD100 (4k+)
PG M44 --> CDT HD4 (200-4khz)
Voodoo V1600.1 --> DD9012

what PassatBloke is saying is that you use a DMM to test different wires to find a wire that is "hot" when the key is in the ignition but not "hot" when the key is not in the car ignition. Make sense?

The wire your after is a solid gray wire.
