so how do you guys suppose the rsd12 stacks up againts the alpine type R....i've been planning on going with the rsd12's when i FINALLY get to repurchase after i had to sell me rsd stuff before i even got to use it. but lately, i cant help but look at the type r's...all i've ever heard was really good stuff about them. i figure that in terms of sq, they've gotta about as good as the rsd's...what i'm wondering is if, watt 4 watt, they bring anymore spl...whatever i get, it's prolly running off of an rsd1200.1 (although i've also considered the alpine mrp1000)

I had both of the subs. I had the alpine type-r first because I work at best buy and got it for employee discount. But I want to have all PG equip so I ordered rsdc124 and then after I got it i returned the type-r and got the PG rsdc124. The weight diff is about 3 pounds. The alpine was a little more hefty in weight. But when listening to the alpine type-r YES it does hit hard but when I had my rsdc124 put in, it hits even harder and its hard to believe because the difference in size cuz I had the two next to each other. I was skeptical but who wouldn't be. My amp is perfect for it rsd600.1 which gives 650rms to the 600rms required for the rsdc124. I think I could even give it more power and it would love it. But yea super satisfied with the rsdc124 in its ability to out perform alpine type-r. Already I have turned my friends from loving best buy equip to ordering rsd65cs components and now wanting to get rsdc124 sub as well. I love showing them the power of phoenix gold LOVE IT.

r u running the rsdc ported or sealed? i've actually never run a ported system, I'm afraind that i'd be unsatisfied with the accuracy and frequency responce compared to a sealed enclosure. i've heard that (in vented enclosures) the freq resp tends to be lil humpy around the tuning zone, they can suffer from delays, and the bass has overall different sound to it. also, i had the regular rsd12 in mind, not the comp, but i'm still enternaining that that option.

ohhHHHhhh Ok. Yea I have mine in a sealed enclosure and I like it that way. You should go the route of rsdc lol. Yea I didnt want to get in the technical difficulties of going into tuning ported blah blah blah so sealed it was.

gotcha...thnx...im starting to get the impression that if money really isn't a hang up, then theres really no reason to pass up the rsdc for the rsd.

Yea i thought of it as why settle for less? If you can make it happen make it happen.
