Cooling and Grounding Questions

Alrighty then...I am starting the install on my08 civic sedan and need some recommendations.

Cooling
I am running 3 ms2250TA's 1-4 ohm Stereo on 2 Scan Speak Tweets, 1-4 ohm Stereo on Legatia Mids , 1- 4 ohm mono on 2 IDQ10 Subs. I need to retain all of my trunk space so am going to ditch the spare and mount everything in the spare tire well (Hey I have AAA, Fix a Flat and a cell phone). My issue comes to cooling. I know the TA's run cooler than the originals but since I have NO circulation there I feel the sub amp will overheat and even if it doesn't I don't want to run them any hotter than I have to.
Has anyone ever cut holes in their floor and ducted air across their amps utilizing fans? Got any slick ideas? What is nice about this car is there is a plastic shell covering the undercar area of the well that would prevent any water or dirt getting up into the well.

Grounding
I have heard the best place to ground unibody cars is up at the alternator case or battery because of welding, paint surfaces between panels etc. etc. Think I would be good grounding this thing in the back on a thick metal panel or run it up front?
Thanks

I am kinda dealing with same issue/concern.. Have you seen my install?? with the orig 2250 upside down in my jumper cable cubby??
I actually have it upside down and just a hole on one side for exhaust and a 8" cross-flow stinger fan on the other.. Then When I need/want more ventilation.. i lift the cover open and prop it up with something.. have a look.. perhaps you might get some ideas.. But heretofore I have had trouble figuring out what/how to get even more ventilation in/back/under there witout cutting more holes through the metal floor.. but would like to hear/see what you come up with, if anything...

i dont recommend cutting your floor so much as building a rack and making vents in that.

heres a project where i made a cooling rack. its not in a tire will, but you can use similar pricipals

I want to build a similar rack in my spare tire well but feel it is pretty much sealed and fans would only circulate the hot air around and it would eventually reach the point of diminishing returns unless I get air in and out of the sealed chamber. Am I making sense? I think I have no other choice than to cut holes in the tire well and draw external air into the car. I am going to crawl under the car in the morning and see what is going to happen if I hack a hole in the floor
BTW the car has 3k miles on it....

If you hack intake and exhaust holes into the bottom of your car, you're going to get some dirt, rocks and other road junk up into those fans pretty quickly... unless you have some creative way of protecting the vents.

Definitely wouldn't recommend cutting holes in the body of your car. A trunk floor cover is replaceable, a rusted out dirt filled spare tire well is not (well, it is, but it's not something I would wish on my worst enemy).

Venting into your trunk is going to be your best option. You'll need an inlet on one side (probably in the middle of your car... you can put some slats so that the space is still usable). Then you would put the fans at the opposite end, say at the back of the trunk, blowing the air out of the tire well. This would create a proper draft, which would hopefully be enough to keep your amps running. Keep in mind your intake needs to have more area than your exhaust does, in order to get the most out of it.

Short grounds in your trunk should be sufficient. Try to avoid spot welded panels, and get near a bigger frame chunk if you can. Of course if you're willing to run a ground wire to the front of the car, that will definitely not hurt.

.. isn't there a vent to the outside world somewhere in the trunk? I know there is in my car... behind one of the trim panels. If you suck air through a simple filter, you won't get *that* much, but if you ventilate out to the other side, there's at least movement.
