so ive run across abunch of ya'll really liking the rsd/rsdc stuff... so how would ya'll compare the rsdc stuff to the ti stuff ( woofers ) and if one was to run a rsdc woofer.. the play up to.. 250..300 (??) hz.. would you crossover the comps to right about there or do it a little lower like 125-200.. ??

300hz is awfully high to be playing yer sub in the first place (typically crossed between 55-70hz)...however, no matter where you cross the sub, i think you wanna cross yer midrange just above it (depending on the sub's and the mid's particular rolloffs). yeah...i think i got all that about right...anyone can jump in and correct me if i've spoken incorrectly

oh yeah...form what i've heard, the rsdc's and Ti's perform quite comparably, but the Ti's require ALOT more juice to do it.

does the rsd component play well down to 70? i know its rated for that but.. sometimes its better to play stuff jus inside its bottom rating.. to not stress anything..

I personally cross my subs at 63HZ w/ 18db roll off and comps at 63HZ w/ an 24db roll off...

whats comps are you runnin' flog?

you can pick up my orion 8" mid bass subs and have no problems!!!
my car only has 4" mids they suck but that god for the seat subs

which orions and how much?

Orion xtr mb8" little older but are f%$#@^ing great they are just 3/4" to deep for my car setup

The RSD components have tons of midbass. With a properly deadened door, you can drop them as low as 50Hz. They blend amazingly well with the RSD comp woofer.

I prefer my RSDc heads and tails above the Ti's I used to have. They were always a bit on the boomy side... the Comp however plays smooth as silk

even the 5.25's though? ive got 5x7's in the doors so a plated 5.25 would be the easiest.. i mean id like to run 6.5's but i dont feel like doin' that much work.. or id probably run some 8's in kicks lol

the 5.25's are only rated to go down to 65hz, which is still pretty respectable...and that's also right around the range where subs are usually crossed at...should work out well...hopefully someone else can chime in and give you more advice on how to properly cross those with the rsdc's.

I've got my RSd components crossed at 80Hz, I believe. To be honest, I don't even remember right now! And to think I even built the damn RNETs and can't remember...

I have the 6" components.

You've also got a TINY enclosure for them. I remember we ran them without a crossover for awhile, and there was very little difference, due to the small size.

RSD 5.25's should still blend nicely with an RSD comp if you deaden the doors. ~80Hz or so should still be plenty low to give you decent SQ in that setup.

so if you look up the "project maxima" thread in the install section, you can see i swaped out my brothers ti12 SVC for the RSDc12d4

same box, same power...the RSDc was the hands down winner. it is ultra smooth and hit notes that the ti blurred as one. the low end smoothness also really set it apart from the TI.

hes running RSD crossed over at 70hz/18db also

How the hell do you guys (or perhaps just you tom) crossover comps at 50hz... there are times when i cross at 80 and they'll start to pop and shit?? If I were to build some kind of enclosure would that help???

AND another thing I have noticed... I have same drivers and same type of amps (MS275) running the fronts (comps) and rears (co-ax's) and I can not seem to get my co-ax's to play nearly as loud as the fronts... It's as if they have no meaning at all in fact and i know the ID stuff is good gear.. but why is it that co-ax's are just not putting out like the fronts are?? I will say this in full disclosure I have a horrible rca cable running back from HU to the amp for the co-ax's which i am going to change with some PG RCA's but would that really make that much of a difference??? I just need to find the time...

Deadening/enclosure makes all the difference. That and a speaker that can actually play those notes. RSDs rock
