Help identifying speaker wire and what is the best wire now?

So I am down to speaker and power wires, STILL NEED A POWERCORE! (stingy people tucking em under the bed I swear!)

My question is, my dad has some PG wire in his install from about 2004 or so. It is bright royal blue and silver (two seperate wires) twisted up kind of like a DNA strand picture, and enclosed in a large clear tube jacket about the size of 4 gauge. I remember this cable being BANK, like 3-4 bucks a foot... We wired his entire car in it to match (plus his car is royal blue on silver )

Questions: Do they still make this cable? If so, whats it called and where to buy?
If not, is there a cable as good or better? If so, whats it called and where to buy?
I need to buy something asap, I'm taking my car apart tomorrow, and it's time to start re-assembly next weekend!

Thanks PP!

NO they do not make this cable any more, and finding it is SUPER rare. its the Zero-point cable.

you don't know the gold mine you just landed on. that Cable goes for quite a premium for people looking to dress up/restore their MS series amps

the short answer to your question...no...i do not know of a cable as good. PG went WAY overboard when designing that wire (ie electrons rotate counter clockwise, so the spin of that wire is counter clockwise in both the wire itsself and the wind of the two cables) high end monster or ixos would be the next best imo

however speaker wire isn't THAT life changing either way. any quality 16 awg copper wire will have next to NO difference

if you want more wire and want HIGH end nice wire, i suggest ixos, kicker s-series, or even the brand new PG (the cable released over the past few years isn't really great)

if you just want some decent cable, KNUkonceptz SS series wire is a good choice

LOL. we did the entire car in that stuff, and it has 3 sets of components... probably has about 150 feet of cable in the car. I just thought it looked cool, I figured it was good, since my friend was told to buy the best of everything for the install, we got it from a PG disty at like 1/2 cost. :? Guess I should have bought out the stock. I didn't know PG was going to pull the plug on cool stuff.

If I wanted to stay PG, is this the "new" cable you'd recommend?

Is that cable any good? The guy says thats his best cable, but it looks kinda janky to me. :? If thats not the "new" PG stuff to get, can you help point me in the direction of what its called so I can look for some? None of my local stereo stealers carry PG, and if they did, I'm not paying 3-5 bucks a foot for janky wires.

they stopped makeing that cable around the time the Ti series was discontinued

yep thats the new stuff. it definitely doesn't have the WOW factor of the zero point cable, but the jacket is very nice, and the wire is flexible and beefy. the guy has some of the cable to avoid in his actions also

avoid: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0285170985
not that its terrible...its just not as good as many other brands of cable.

33 dollars shipped for $50 seems a little steep to me. but i havnt seen it many other places either.

Wow thanks Brian, I almost bought that blue cable too until the guy showed me the other wire. I am working on a deal for a cheap price.

Wire is wire, I wouldnt get caught up in buying the most expensive thing you can find. I like kickers wire, because of its flexibility. Probably the most flexible wire out there. Also, knuconceptz has some good stuff for low prices.

Edit, just read fowlers statements, pretty much the same thing I said.

Actually dude its Phoenix Golds best wire they produce currently. Yes its no Zero Point wire but this is definitely some really good wire.

Compared to wire sold locally this stuff blows it away and I am not just saying that because I sell it and those are my listing's on ebay but I have had a lot of customers locally and on the net say they are very happy with it as well as I.

If you want to stay PG the PowerFlow is what you want. Its the new PG stuff and I love it

Also , PG is starting to crack down on certain distributors and dealers and thats why alot of the newer stuff is hard to get.

Find a 50' or 25' spool cheaper and ill match it , even ghetto walmart wire sells for more than I sell the PG for.

whats 50ft 16awg gonna run me?

The Power Flow 16 Is 23.00 dollars on ebay from me for 50'. Then subtract $3.00-4.00 from that if you buy it from my site and then take a additional amount off by letting me know your part of the phorum. Thats how I roll

There is reason for pricing that way I do on the bay. Usually when folks buy 80 ' of more they get good discount. Lately I have been asked to and finding myself matching Knuconcepts pricing(Using comparable wire)

Also , the spools I purchase are not cheap to ship :( Depending on where you purchase the spools . I have the inventory on hand and I am not dropshipping the wire. Its cut and everyhting by me and shipped same day. So IMO my pricing isnt too horrible

For instance , Some Monster cable( Dont know which series) that isnt as nice as the PowerFlow and is pretty basic is at walmart right now for $27.00.
Radioshack sells the Silver Series for $30.00 a 16 gauge spool.

Thanks Kyle! We just need to see how much wire I need, I def want 100 feet of 12, and maybe another 25-40 feet of 16, but for the small price, I'd rather just run everything in 12 anyway. Only reason to use 16 is its easier to fish in small spots to mount tweeters.
