What is the difference between a ZX475Ti and a ZX500.4Ti amp.
The only thing I can see in the speclist is that the 500.4 is rated at 125W x4 into 2Ohms stereo, and the 475 is rated at 150W x4 into 2Ohms stereo
Are there other items different?

supposedly the case and one board revision are the only difference between the ZXti amps and the Ti amps. There was not a major design change to the boards, it was just a layout change if I am not mistaken. So, they should have the exact same specs...

I think the layout isn't changed much, if at all.
ZX => ZXti was a big redesign and switch from through-hole to surface mount parts
ZXti => Ti was just a name change.

Different board revisions though. I can absolutely guarantee this, at least for the ZXti and very early Ti boards (the ones I have are all marked rev.1). They were still all through hole, and do not have any of the test points that the Ti boards have. I am not saying the amp itself changed, just that the board was redesigned for a different layout and screen. The newer revision all say Titanium power series or something to that effect, the old revision says zero point titanium. I have a ZxTi and a Ti amp that both have the rev.1 board.

My 5 800.1's have SMD parts scattered throughout, as does my 900.7... I will try to get pics eventually. As for ZXti Rev.A, that is all I have anymore, I sold my one Rev.B Ti amp.

Yeah, we had an outside house do our "daughter " boards in SMD.
Cause we didn't have the SMD setup internally. We were thinking about it.
But with ClassA/B amplifers we still needed mass and surface area, so it didnt do much good to make the boards more compact as you had all these output devices and switchers to deal with. PLUS then get them cooled off.

Hi,
I just got my 475 and 500.
475: has a green printboard (1999) with zeropoint on it
500: has a black printboard (2000) with Titanium Series on it
I'll try to post some pictures.

Mix of SMD and through-hole in the 900.7 at least...

Also I think the 800.1 may have been built by another company. By comparison it seems to be the black sheep of the Ti family.

Thank you!
The parts and layout looks pretty much identical between the two. The boards are obviously colored and labeled differently though.
ZX450 by comparison has visible differences:

At first glance I don't see any SMD parts either. That must have been something they introduced with the newer bigger Ti amps. I wonder if that means the 1000.2, 1200.1 and 900.7 were all built out of house?
Fascinating.
