Post by seandiguer »

Who is using on of the xenon subs? How is it? Is it comparible to the rsd10? Is it a good sound quality sub?

I used a 12d2 for home theater. All I know is that the thing plays low. Almost to the point of being too low. The upper end is fairly lacking, so be sure you have some good midbass with it.

it is a serious love hate relationship.

i have one in my car right now in a 1.4cf sealed box running off a xenon 600.1

it plays low....awesomely low. lower then many 15's.

it engulfs you in wonderful bass from all directions like no other sub i have ever heard. (ok, steves's cyclone, and RE XXX do a good job too) you basically dont hear the sub at all, you just feel it and hear your front stage.

it plays long low notes phenomenally. its soooo smooth. it has ridiculous excursion which help that.

it is a decent SQ sub. for it to work you NEED dedicated front midbass. my ti elites in extremely deadened kick pods running off a x200.2 arent enough to blend it.

the x10d just doesnt have the upper range and so i have dead zone on song that have a bass line around 70-80. the ti's play it....but when its the main bass line in a song you want it to HIT and it just doesn't happen

the other downside to it is it's a little slow. the rsdc12 for example is NOTICEABLY quicker. the xenon sort of makes certain notes that are in quick succession sound like one long note (clean mind you...just incorrect)

compared to a rsd10, its MUCH louder (which on paper doesn't make sense...but i think the rsd just reaches its mechanical limit sooner...) and smoother at low notes. the rsd is a low end beast...but the xenon is mind blowing.

what are you listening too?

if you listen to electronic/hiphop and have a strong midbass presence go for it.

rock or only have moderate components up front...i would definitely go rsd. are you hearty set on a 10?

i think that a rsd12 is a great happy medium for the 2

Or the RSD Comp 10... best of both worlds. Smooth, low AND quick.

Thanks guys.. I was leaning towards a rsdc10 but found the xenon really cheap,(90bucks) but i think i'll go with the rsdc10.

Using my outlaw, am i better with the m100 on my sub or on my elites? Cause everything i read says the elites need gobs of power, And im not after huge low bass, but a nice blend of all notes. Would the m50 be enough for the rsdc10?

I like my RSDC12 on 250 watts with 75 on my elites. Sometimes I wish I had a bit more power to my components... so I think M100 on comps will be a good idea. If you find yourself stressing the M50 in order to get the level you need, then you can always switch it around in order to try to keep yourself from damaging it.
