Hi,

Recently i installed a PG RSD12D sub powered by a jl500/1...and absolutely loved it. My friend gave me an old alpine amp for my bday, its 45x4 RMS, so i decided what better way to upgrade my factory speakers.

For the dash, theres 2 speakers in the door (which crutchfield claims is also 6x9) and there appears to be tweeters of some type in the dash right underneath the front windshield. and in the rear there are two 6x9's.

Some questions

Some people say that 6x9's don't really sound good, and 6.5's are preferred for sound.

So what exactly do i need to buy? I just know i want to go with an RSD, as i want to have an entire PG set for my car (both cause of quality and cause of cost effectiveness)

Then there are 2 way, and 3-way (which i hear are just marketing gimmicks) and then there are "coaxial" and there are "components"

So with that said, lets review

I have 6x9 in my rear, 6x9 in my front doors, and some type of tweeter in my dash that crutchfield says there are no aftermarket speakers that fit it.

Setup: PG RSD12D in sealed 1.473cuft w/ JL 500/1 AMP
Alpine 9856
Alpine MRP-F200 (to be used with new speakers)

1) Which do i buy? Components or Coaxials?

Im guessing Coaxials for my rear, but what about the front and what do i do about the tweeter to which nothing fits?

My car also has the "tweeters" (really they are 3 1/2" midrange/tweeters) in the dash, and being that it is not the best place for them because of reflections, I decided to just unhook them altogether. I would recommend either getting the components and custom mounting the tweeters, or getting the components and putting the tweeters in the center of the grill. The components will have a better crossover than the coaxial speakers.
As for the 6x9's vs. Components arguement well that is a bit subjective. Most people argue that components are better because of better crossover design and the round shape makes the surround move more in a more linear motion but I personally don't care as long as both are of good quality.

i thought it was actually ideal to have your sound reflect off the glass?
