by battery is sufficient im pretty sure cuz it hasnt run out or lost power. my ground is good. might i need a capacitor? and how many farrads would be safe with 1000 watts?

Your amp is clipping because you are turning it up to loud. Set your gains properly upgrade your big 3 wiring and don't buy a useless cap.

If the gain setting on your amp is cranked, you can still have clipping without the head unit being up at full volume. You might want to do a google search on properly setting your amp gains in conjunction with your head unit (there are plenty of step-by-step tutorials out there). Also, the big three is a wiring upgrade that allows for larger power and grounding wires. I've never personally done this, but it can be beneficial if you're going to be running a huge system.
