You know, I've seen like 5 "#1 Octanes" over the years.
The most unique one was the hand built prototype with ZX guts

wasnt the prototype actual carbon fiber? And what number was given away to the winner of the naming thing?

Yes, the prototype was too expensive to actually make, so they scaled it back a bit. It also had some sort of polished trim around all the edges too.
#1 was apparently given to the guy who named it, though I have seen other #1's as well. I wonder why PG doesn't run contests like that on this forum hmm

Even if their are other #1's, its still one sweet looking amp and to have a basically new condition amplifier is a rare find..

Wrong. Prototype was normal metal with a cheap sticker of carbon fiber. The edges were raw metal. The final production finish looks 1000% better.

The 001 indicates it was the first unit built that day. I believe the Gregorian calendar date is in there too.
edit- OK, I got the straight scoop. First 5 digits are the product, second 5 digits are the number of days since 1900, the last four digits are the number of units built that day.
So, in this case:
05081 is Octane LE
37595 is the date built (enter this number in Excel and click format/date to find the regular calendar date)
0001 is first unit built that day.
