Phoenix Gold Phorum

Hi All, Im new to the forum and don't really know much about car audio systems so am hoping I can learn alot from here. I have a Phoenix gold xenon 1200.1 mono. why would the blue light keep flashing for? it used to work perfectly fine before. Could it be because it is not earthed properly? I tried it in another vehicle and it did the same thing? Thanks for replies and help in advance.

The blinking blue LED means the amp has gone into protection. This could mean a couple things. Most obviously, you could have a short at the speaker terminals. It could also means the amp is blown and requires service.

There are some things you can run through to get a better idea of what is going on. First, make sure your power and ground connections to the amp are good, solid and large enough. Ground the amp on the chassis of the vehicle, don't ground it on any sheet metal body pieces. Second, make sure the speaker terminals are clean and not touching each other. Make sure where the speaker wire hooks up to your sub(s) is clean and nothing is touching across terminals.

After all that looks ok, you might want to get adventurous and pop the case open and visually inspect the PCB (circuit board) for any damage (burn marks, popped traces, leaking caps).

If you've done all that and it's still going into protect, I would suggest you either send it in to PG for flat rate repair, or have someone you know and trust with electronics and amplifier design check it over for you.

what ohm load are you running on it?
is the speaker working properly on other amps?

As the others have said a flashing LED usually means a toasted amp. At least, that's what's it's been every time in my experience.

The flashing blue light as others above said means the amp is in protection. I read that in the manual. I'd assume u have a short or loose ground.
