Using a single LPL on two amps?

As some may know I have two 1200.1's running to one 15'' matched and all that jazz and could be happier. That being said I do miss my LPL and me having a plethora of phone crap and the necessary phone cords I had a idea on ho to run my single 50k ohm knob to both amps and I would liek to see if this is how I would do it.

The gear:
LPL(homemade)
1 phone line coupler
1 duplex jack

Now I came up with two ways I may be able to do this

1. run the phone cord from the LPL into the coupler then attach a duplex phone line splitter to the end of the coupler and from that coupler run two lines , one to each amp.

or

2. put a duplex coupler in the LPL port of amp #1 run the lpl to the 1st port of the coupler and then run a line to the other amp of port #2 on the coupler.

Will this work? Will the 50 ohm work in controlling two amps or would I need to build a 100 ohm LPL ?

Yep, #1 will do just fine.

You can check the accuracy by lowering the LPL and comparing voltages to make sure they still track equally.

So plug the LPL in all the way down on the knob and then check?

I would check at a few points on the knob just to make sure you aren't getting different power out of each amp at different volumes.

Gotcha Thanks! I guess I have a project to do again 8)

Just be sure the line splitter has at least 4 conductors. Some phone splitters only have the centre two as this is all that is needed for telephony voice. The LPL needs three connected through.

Get back to us in results/issues.

Here is PG's instructions right in our very own Tech info section. It says 2 conductor phone cord for all secondary amps. Also, interestingly enough, it shows a picture of the phone cables like I have been trying to explain in the BC thread...

Thanks for the link Jason! i have read through it and see that it only needs a 2 line cord that you mentioned. so any 2 or more phoneline will work ? i think I have a bunch of cord I bough pacifcally for the LPL's.

I wish there was more BLUE phone cords
