need some ideas

Post by deathcloud »

So since Ive moved back in with my family, I now have money again! yay!!! So I want to know what I should do to improve my sound system. What should be the next step?

This is what I have so far:

Bought new deck (Kenwood Excelon KDC-x592)
Bought PG ARx-860 (2 pair)
Bought x1200.1
Going to buy another rsdc124 next paycheck :)

So I will have in my system:

Kenwood excelon kdc-x592
SLD-44 (front inputs ran to x200.4, rear input ran to x1200.1)
x200.4 (button pressed in so that the 1 front RCAs will also run the rear)
x1200.1
2 rsdc124
0/1 gauge ran into PG distro block

Plan on powering x200.4 and x1200.1 with both power inputs

Now question is...

What is next?

Crossover?
Basscube?
Capacitor?
blah blah blah and please please please write why?

What I want is a clean sounding system. Where people will be wow'd by it. So yea what is next?

Thanks

Those Xenons have crossovers no need to buy one, and the X1200.1 has a subsonic filter on it so no need for a Bass Cube either.

Spend the money on deadening and or a decent set of components. Or you may want/need to upgrade your charging system to keep up with those amps.

what do u mean by charging station?

my next thing was going to be sound deadening all my doors and my trunk. I get the dynamat at cost so that would be easy to do.

I wanted to keep PG speaks in my car but... your right if i really wanted to get crazy with SQ and blah blah blah i was going to save up and spend 600 dollars on focal k2p 6.5 components.

but any other ideas?

Yep... sound deadening, and lots of it.. And get some nice sealed kickpanels while you're at it :)

$600 for k2p's? I would take RSD comps over them personally :P

He said charging system, not charging station. Your charging system is your alternator, battery and all the wiring that connect them.

The RSd components are a great, inexpensive upgrade to stock speakers. You may not get the sweet SQ of that Focal set you're referring to, but at $70/set, you're getting something way better than stock, plus really good midbass that you might not be getting out of high end "SQ" component sets.

Ok so i will sound deaden everything to make it sound better. Is there anything else I can do to make the rsd65cs speakers really sound great? I just thought maybe if I got a crazy EQ or something it could make it sound better, but maybe my decks EQ will be adequate?

An EQ is useful if you have an RTA (real time analyzer) handy. It measures the sound output across all frequencies, and allows you to match the levels, so that you get a nice smooth frequency response.

Without an RTA though, any EQing you do is probably going to do more harm than good, unless you know what you are doing.
