Post by bruther »

Does anyone know what the actual power is for the M50 for 14.4Volts?

On a quick side note... did M series amps come with birthsheets listing "true" power on them like other PG lines have had?

What would be normal volts coming from the battery? 14 14.4?? I want to know if my M50 will be enough power to run my new front components. I need at least 100wrms for each channel.

Let me know what you find out Fuzz.
Thanks

The difference between 100W and 85W is going to be fairly small in terms of output, although I'll concede that softer things like "control" and "tightness" can be perceived to be rather different between what seems like insignificant power differences.

I'm running a set of speakers the can handle 120wrms (180 max power) and I want to ensure I'm giving them proper amount of power. I do not want them to be underpowered.

Thoughts?

IMO if the components are 4ohms, the M50 is most likely not enough amp. That does depend somewhat on the power going to the subs though.

While the acoustic environment will yield different results, doubling of power can somewhat be equated to 3db of gain, which while certainly not insignificant, isn't really THAT much.

I'm not going to question your desire for powering your speakers with their rated power, that's fine. I like more power as well. So, ignore my reservations about how much difference there will really be and hopefully someone will answer your initial question with a degree of accuracy ;)

Does anyone have a thought on a PG amp (only 2 channel) that provides the power I'm looking for?? If not I was thinking of going with a Zapco amp..

Good call. 600.2ti I'm thinking.

I'm running an Outlaw in the setup but I need something for the main components.

Choices so hard.

ZX600Ti \Ti600.2 = 150 watts @ 4 ohms or a ZX475Ti\Ti500.4 bridge = 250 watts @ 4 ohms These will give you the power your lookin' for.

X2! I've been very impressed so far. X-over is great as well. Or you could get 2 M50's, 1 bridged to each side.

Ive said it before , Ill say it again, back in the day I was running JBL 6.5 inch comps(GT series, back then they were BEEFY!)with the 1inch tweets in door pods. Those were x-over with the PG MX2, and 2 12inch Kicker XPL's with passive x-over. All off of one PG M50.
137.7 DB's and super clean. I think the M50 has plenty of oldskool power for the relatively small footprint it had. I could yap allday about that amp... nuff said.
PS the subs were wired in parrellell, it would get warm but didnt ever have to use a fan on it. For door speakers u will not be dissapointed running them off the M50.

Someone should look up that birth sheet about the m50 at 14.4 id be interested in what it really puts out. But I had a x200.4 which puts out 200 rms into 4 channels and it was BOMB! for a week lol, but i didn't even have a Line driver either and my deck sucks for voltage. When I get it repaired and have my line driver hooked up with my new deck, im going to be in heaven. ALL the power I could want, great crossover, easy to use, and a power hungry beast!!! I so cant wait. I 2nd getting a x200.2 and they are relatively inexpensive for what you get. I don't know if ill ever switch amps. So satisfied!

I am using an outlaw but I need to get a component amp. I'm deciding between a Zapco 350.2 and a 600.2ti(if I can find one to my liking).
